I am having great difficulty sourcing the above - garden centres - no joy. Google search - just willow rods. It annoys me when GW show you ideas and say the materials can be sourced locally! Not in Hertfordshire that I have found!! - any ideas would be appreciated!!

If there's any managed woodland near where you are, that might be worth checking out, if you can find the woodsman. A quick search on 'hazel stakes hertfordshire' brought these two sites, which look like they could put you in touch with what you're looking for: http://www.wocko.com/ and http://www.ecotreecare.co.uk/

With rising demand for forest products coppice producer groups are being set up. They often sell stuff into the Home Counties: http://www.coppice-products.co.uk/ The search facility on ths website suggested: http://www.coppice-products.co.uk/View.php?CustomerID=51 Local wildlife trusts might be worth trying - they have woodlands that they manage. Local Forestry commission offices might be worth a go too - they work with owners of all woodlands not just conifer forests
