Thanks guys for the comments re the YouTube clips, and I am actually very able to accept compliments Eva, the things is I have got a little used to people saying "####ing country music" that I am a little wary of directing people to our/my stuff!  Maybe if more people had confessed to liking what we did I would still be doing it for a living...still there you go.
I don't know a lot about South Wales I must say Richard, but my OH keeps saying she wants to visit the Brecon Beacons.
Lovely pic of Kyra Eva. Dog  I will see if I can smuggle you a copy of the famous "Runner Bean Pickle" recipe ladies (and anyone else who wants it!). Wink
Hmm, there are actually one or two well known pro photographers who don't fart around with settings and just use auto focus & flash etc. I tend to do some of each if the moment allows.
Doh! I do feel rather stupid...I thought I knew the "eddies in the space-time continuum" quote but, well, it's the ol' grey cells don'tcha know...not what they were.
Good news for Percy Susiq, I brings to mind an occasion when one of our cats came up the path with her paw at a very nasty angle under her neck, which transpired to be actually caught in her collar! Huh?

Okay my green fingerdly learned friends, are these okay or are they leggy? If so is all lost or what? Big Smile

Aaaaw, Kyra looks cute! (What do you mean by lease dog? )

The toms look OK to me, Roundelder. It's normal for there to be quite a bit of stem before the seed leaves (well, it's normal for mine!) I always plant them very deep anyway - I take off the bottom two sets of leaves and plant so the third are just above the ground, so it doesn't matter much if they do get a bit leggy in the early stages.

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

Your tomatoes look very similar to mine Roundelder I potted mine on this afternoon and put them a little deeper in the pots just like Phot's was saying, but I only have the seed leaves on them at the moment.
The Brecon Beacons are a lovely sight Roundelder, you can see some pics on google there are a lot there:-

Im glad Phot's asked you what a lease dog is Eva, saves me doing it. Did you plant any seeds? all my little gem seedlings have keeled over and look very sick, everything else is fine so not sure why. Roundelder your toms look ok to me too, like Phot's i always plant toms deep, usually bury half the length of stem(tip from mr Titchmarsh)Yes Ishy (my lurcher) got her claw stuck in her collar yesterday and when i tried to un tangle her i pulled her claw off, felt so horrible, she didnt cry or anything so it might have been loose, I still felt guilty so gave her 2 custard creams which is her favorite treat. I took a chance this aft and planted some of my sweetpeas in a pot on the patio. Did some weeding in the front garden and khan came out with me that was ok till i caught him weeing on the shoots of my peony Angry

Hi All, sorry I've neen AWOL! Hectic, hectic yadda yadda.....!Embarrassed

I like your ladybird photo too Lilyrose. You have the same camera as me I think. I have a Sony Cybershot too.

I think your tomato seedlings look perfectly healthy Roundelder! I hope so anyway as they look remarkanly like mine do at the moment. My Apache chilli seeds have taken the longest to germinate. (4 weeks) but two have emerged in the last couple of days, so that's a relief.

Kyra looks lovely Eva, I hope she gets better soon. Same with Percy Susiq - poor thing - confined to quarters. You'll probably be as glad as she is when she finally gets released.Smile

The allotment is coming along nicely, and we did get the greenhouse in the end, which is nice. We have dug it over and cleaned all the clutter away which the previous tenant left. OH washed the greenhouse inside and out and I have already sowed parsnips and beetroot. So things are moving along nicely.

This was when we were still clearing. Most of that junk has gone now.

I'm glad your daffs are out Richard. I went for a walk through some lovely daffs today. Since you are welsh and probably have a particular penchant for daffs this is for you.

Hi all, I don't sign in all day and have two pages of posts to catch up on.  I put the coldframe together today and that's now sitting outside with a few plants in it.  I also managed to weed one of the borders before it started raining and now we have rain in the forecast for every day in the forseeable.

Good luck with keeping Percy confined for the next two months Susiq, it's a lot harder to do than it seems and we had enough trouble trying to keep Sasha still for a month after she had her op.

It sounds like you will have some big squash plants when they can be planted out lillyrose, I usually wait until the middle of April to sow those seeds and the plants have just about outgrown the pot when I plant them out 2-3 weeks later.

That's a lovely daff pic BB, a few of our smaller daffs are in flower in the front garden.  Excellent news too on the greenhouse, did you get the keep the waterbutt too or did you put it there yourself?  My Apaches haven't come through yet and nor have the PPs.

Hi BB nice to see you again, I can see that you have been working very hard on the allotment. Thanks for the daffodil pics it reminds me of my recent trip to Wales, your nearby woods looks a lovely place to have a stroll. My sweetpeas haven't germinated yet Lillyrose maybe they have rotted away in the pot as I think they have been there for about a month nowSurprise. I planted them at the same time as you Sue.

Morning all, hope you're all out enjoying the sun while it lasts!

Welcome back, your allotment looks great BB , you must have spent ages getting everything so neat and tidy! How wonderful that you now have your very own greenhouse on site! Where you found the time to also go for a walk among those lovely daffs boggles me!

Kyra is my lease Dog because I can go and pick her up any time I like and her owner sometimes leaves her with me when she can't drop her off at doggy day care. I would love to have a dog myself but what with work (and a bad case of allergies) it wouldn't be fair on the dog... Being an honorary auntie is a good compromise.. Smile

I didn't get round to planting any seeds yesterday Lilyrose, work got in the way unfortunately, but still, 2 more days and I've got 12 days off, so I'll have loads of time then (in the rain Tongue Tied).

I did have a bit of luck at the garden center, they were giving away plant pot trays. A bit of soil in one and a transparent one on top of that and I've got perfect (and free) sowing trays/propogators! Now all I need is 5 more window sills! Wink

Your tomato seedlings look fine to me (but what do I know), they actually look more sturdy than mine, but hopefully planting them deep will help, so thanks for that tip Lilyrose/Phots! Shame about your little gems Lilyrose, hope you manage to bring them back to normal!

Anyway, back to work for me now, laterzz!

PS: How long do potatoes normally take to chit?

Hi all, You did well for plant propagators Eva you will have to decide what to plant in them now. I have a tray of pansies to go out in the garden now which I started off from seed about six weeeks ago. I kept them on a window ledge in the spare bedroom.
The weather is fine here at the moment but there is rain forcast for this afternoon. Hope everyone else has a good day.Smile

Morning all, it's wet here today but at least it stayed dry while I was in town.

Potatoes don't take too long to chit Eva and even if they haven't all sprouted by the time you want to plant them, it doesn't matter too much, they will just take a little longer to start growing.

It sounds like your pansies have done well Richard, don't forget to harden them off properly before planting them out.

Some of the PP chillies have now germinatedSmile

Hi everyone - nice to see you back BB and your plot looks a really good size!

Ditto to everyone re Roundelders toms - they look great.

Hurray Sue, glad your PP's have decided to join youYes

Whaddya been up to Phot's? a lot of writing I would guess!

Eva, Kyra is just soooooo gorgeous, but being an Airedale fan I'm biaised - Percy will be 1 yr on 9th April, so they are quite close in age, I will get round to posting a pic, if I can get him to sit still long enough!

Lillyrose, I cooked a retro starter, french onion soup, with cheesey french bread floating on top, then saddle of lamb stuffed with apricots, cumin and pine nuts (our last joint from the whole lamb we had in the freezer, I've ordered another which will be ready in June) then I did a chocolate and rasberry gateaux (unlike Sue, I'm not much of a baker) but it seemed to go down well - either that or they were just being polite!! with some homemade vanilla ice cream. I think the icecream maker my mam bought me for xmas is my favourite kitchen gadget at the moment.

My pansies are not looking too healthy Richard so you've done much better than me.

Hi all, What a horrible day here, been raining all dayStorm so not been able to do any gardeningSad Susiq the meal you cooked sounded so nice, the lamb especiallyYes. We also buy a whole lamb and freeze it, works out so much cheaper, infact im due to pick up another one next week in time for Easter, have got my SIL and her OH coming for dinner on Easter Monday so will do something Lamb based. Eva how can you bear to give Kyra back when you have her, I bet you are so looking forward to your time off, i am very lucky that i dont go out to work since married OH 6 years ago, that means i have lots of time in the garden and with my doggies. BB your lottie is looking good, glad you were able to keep greenhouse. Any news on your lottie Richard?. My little gems have no hope in recovering so will be consigned to compost, most strange the way they went as everything else in greenhouse is growing fine and strong. Right just off out in the pouring rain to walk dogs, how come i have to push them out the back door when its raining but when it comes to a walk it can be a monsoon out there and they are out the door like whippets out a trapConfused

Well thank you one and all! It is really good to have like minded individuals to give an opinion on these things. I am happy to stand on stage and make an eejit of myself  Embarrassed but when it comes to matters of the GH and plants etc. I have all the confidence of a frog on the M6! Confused
This lack of confidence manifested itself in Aldi today where they had packs of six plug plants amongst which were "Bell Boy" peppers and  some Chillis (can't remember which off hand) but anyway, they looked REALLY healthy and at £1.99 a pack I couldn't resist them and they will go somewhere I am sure.
Good news on the pickle front, my OH is prepared to divulge her "Cumberland Runner Bean Pickle" recipe to me and I will post it as soon as she spills the be.....oh never mind!
Hold on Susiq , I just have to wipe the drool from the corners of my mouth, behave girl, talking like that in front of a greedy old man...
I am pleased somebody's Chilli have germinated Sue1002, note the aforementioned lack of faith in mine but I will try and be patient. I did have a little panic yesterday when I discovered that a large (plastic) table we use for potting etc. had blown over in the wind a couple of days ago and landed edge down on the cable which supplies the greenhouse and caused the ELCB to trip out! Surprise
Fortunately, as the weather has been milder lately I don't think there will be a problem although I don't want to be giving the sodding Chillis any extra excuses not to raise their pretty little head above the compost.

It will be a while before a vacant allotment is ready probably Lillyrose but I don't mind waiting. It has been fine here and I have been in the garden planting pansies in the shed windowbox (I didn't harden them off Sue as they are quite sheltered)-I had a tray full. I also put in the anemone corms, planted the gladioli bulbs, repotted french beans and dwarf sunflower and tidied up a few tubs. Then I started off another tray of pansy seeds. I saw the little mouse again in the garden it looked exactly like Miranda's mouse pic-he had large ears but didn't have my camera handy-he ran off anyway!.
French onion soup, with cheesey french bread floating on top sounds delicious Susiq.
Glad your PP chillies have now germinated Sue I have one Bolivian rainbow germinated at the moment. Our forsythia bush has flowered this week too.Smile
