Hi All, back from B'ham about an hour ago. OH is looking very much better than he did on Weds and healing quickly. The weather on the drive back was awful. Very wet, and I passed 2 accidents on the M5 south of B'ham. Neither looked too terrible but it certainly concentrates the mind on the job in hand. Our son had cooked a sweet chilli chicken and rice when I got back and it went down well - I was 'hank marvin'.
Sue, your pies sound nice and should keep you going for a while now they're in the freezer.
Hope you get your fine weather for your days off Phot's.

Morning all. It's nice and sunny here but a bit on the chilly side. We should be off out in about an hours time to go and see OH's mum. Hope everyone else has the sun today for anyone that wants to get some work done in the garden today.

We have a nice bright start here too Sue, but like where you are, it is chilly. Hope you have a nice time visiting and that your m-i-l likes her apple pies.

Looks like you had a good trip to OH's mums Sue and are in the good books with your apple pies and jam. We went to Asda today for a scart lead -it was very busy there- we usually avoid Saturdays but OH wanted to tape something tonight off the TV though not too sure what she was taping. Seems like you had a nice day Phot's I did a bit of garden tidying but it was cold. OH made some lemon cup cakes, vegetable soup and some beef burgers today. Our daughter drove to Coventry yesterday but said it was very difficult to drive around as the signs were 'all over the place' and she was not sure which lanes to get in!

Very sweet of you to wish everyone what they wanted in the garden yesterday Sue, unfortunately if I had stepped out in ours I would have probably drowned to be truthful...worrying amount of rain in one day here yet again and it was cold to boot! Lit the log stove, opened a bottle of Jennings "Cumberland Ale" and sat watching the sport for the afternoon as the garden was obviously a write-off. Meanwhile my OH was mixing dried fruit with copious amounts of brandy (I hope) to soak overnight in preparation for a Christmas cake . She also made a thoroughly scrumptious "summer fruits" cheesecake and there really is nothing like a proper home-made cheesecake, although the fruit was obviously some we had frozen a couple of months previously. A couple of visitors to the bird table

It intrigues me that the minute the natural food supply diminishes they return to the table. I just love the long tailed tits' little badger-like features!

Morning all (just!)- a lovely day here-with 'currant bun' at the moment. Nice pics of the robin and long-tailed tit Roundelder, I can see you are looking after our little friends well. Good idea to open the "Cumberland Ale" sounds a lot more civilised than getting yourself cold and damp in the garden. In the meantime your OH is looking after you well with the cheesecake and Christmas cake - steady on with brandy though only one large glass full per cake.

Hi All, Richard - the currant bun is out here too!
I have just returned from walking the dog (and the robin) and it is a cold wind blowing. I have been keeping my eye on the robin and it is the same one following us around. Seems a bit bizarre to me!
I like your pics of the birds Roundelder, it is funny how the long tailed tits are always in two's or threes's isn't it?
I'm not really an ale drinker and have never tried cumberland ale but I like the sound of all the food items (as ever).
Glad your OH's Mum liked her pies and jam Sue. You will have earned some brownie points there!
