Well my daughter's car is OK but has to have a few small things, wiper blade and a bulb so we will get that sorted and take it back in tomorrow for a free retest.
Thanks for your comments on my poem Miranda and Sue, it keeps me out of mischief thinking of things to write about!
Glad your potatoes seem to be recovering after yesterday's storm Sue.
We have sorted out quite a bit more  around the house today and have some extra  room now after moving some furniture around with a few more trips up the recycling tip.
Its quite cool her today so we have put the heating on for a while.Smile

I liked your poem too Richard. Smile

We also had loads of leaves Miranda & Sue after yesterday, but no damage to anything in the garden. The new month does seem to have brought some different weather with it, and it is getting quite cool this evening. I think putting some heating back on sounds like a good idea!

Not too much needs doing to your daughter's car then Richard.  We get our wiper blades from Wilkinsons (£1.50 each) and they do cheap bulbs tooSmile

I fished a load of leaves out of the pond earlier before they clog the pump up.

Putting the heating on is a good idea, ours clicked in a good couple of hours ago.

I usually go to Wilkinson's Sue for wipers and bulbs and stock up on other things while I'm there but we're getting the bits locally this time. Hope those leaves stay out of your pump this time.

Thanks for your comments BB on my poem its a bit of a new venture for me- I appreciate all for your reading of  it at this busy time.Smile

Miranda-I like your updated videos on your site I can see that you both have been working hard at your place.

I didn't know Wilkinson's did wiper blades, that's useful to know. I don't recall exactly how much the last lot cost, but it was a lot more than £1.50.

Glad you enjoyed the vids, Richard. It was fun making that toilet Smile They're here, if anyone wants to see: http://www.wildchicken.com/learning/lp_ctp_00005.htm - more will be added as they're put together, but there are a few to start you off.

There's all sort of things like that in 'Wilko's' Miranda I love looking around there but OH isn't all that keen so I meet up with her later usuallyWink.

Your garden still looks full of colour Sue on your Photobucket album-mine is not quite so colourful now, but looking forward to trying to grow new things next year.Smile

Yes, it's amazing what Wilkos sell, the wiper blades are all different sizes from 12 inches up to around 20 inches.  Instead of standing there reading the backs of the packets to see which models they fit, I find it a lot quicker to measure the blades already on the car and get the same size.

Very good videos on your site Miranda, I look forward to seeing the rest once you've had time to sort them out and good on you for having a go at the thatching yourselfBig Smile

Thanks Richard, your garden will have some more colour this time next year from the sound of things.  It was about 3 or 4 years ago when I made an effort to create colour in the garden for all year round.

    G'morning all,

It is at the present dark, damp and cold outside (it is only 0700hrs mind) and I cannot imagine the ground can take much more rain. The winter lettuce are coming on very nicely in the GH and with the recent warm weather I would expect some of the garlic to poke its shoots up soon (if only to see if is spring yet!).

My OH went off Christmas shopping on her own yesterday...which is how I like it. It has to be said that she also prefers it that way because of my constant twining (whingeing if you live in the south!). I doubt if I am alone in utterly detesting crowded shopping areas, although I have only really developed this agoraphobic tendency in recent years. Anyway thank goodness I can do my shopping on line.

    Wide awake

It was dark and wet when I got up too Roundelder and it's still piddling down.

I hate crowded shopping areas too and much prefer to go first thing in the morning when the queues are not so long.

Yuk - Christmas shopping. I'm with Roundelder and will try to get most stuff online wherever possible! Well, it has been a truly grey, dull day here. I had a nice surprise though as this Acidanthera flower came out today:-

I don't think it will last too long, but it is a welcome cheery sight when I view from the kichen window while it lasts.

Cold, wet and windy here. It's suddenly very autumnal, isn't it!

Good to hear that your daughter's car got through the MOT, Richard. What a comfort that is.

Roundelder, I also detest crowded shopping areas and, like you, the dislike has increased over time. Christmas is especially bad and that piped music drives me crazy. I absolutely loathe it and cannot understand why shops don't understand what torture it is to have to listen to it for weeks on end, year after year. Ugh! Me and shopping don't mix!

We crossed, BB. What a lovely flower that is! I grew some a few years ago but they didn't make it through the winter.

Yes lovely flower pic BB a cheery sight in the rainSmile-I've never heard of Acidanthera before so now I have!
Christmas seems to start earlier every year Miranda-the supermarket had a huge moving Santa in the main doorway and an aisle full of lights and things (and OH's Aunty had her xmas lunch about 3 weels ago!)
Its raining again here now Bah!Sad

That's a lovely pic BB, is this the first year flowering you have had from the Acidanthera?  I planted some in a pot a few years ago and they flowered the same year but all I've had ever since are the leaves with no flowers.  I hate it when the names on plants change, I bought mine as 'Gladiolus callianthus Murielae'.

Glad your daughter's car is now MOT'd Richard.

I'm stuffed - I made an apple pudding with toffee sauce which we had for desert, it was so gorgeous that I've eaten too much but there's still some left for tomorrow.  I grated the apples into it and was amazed that my son actually ate it as he never touches fruit.
