Wow, that's wonderful, Susiq - congratulations!! Yes That must have been really exciting. Will you enter again next year?  What will you do with the salver? Wouldn't mind the recipe for the bread and butter pickles.

I start the celeriac in spring, with some heat, and plant them out after the frosts have passed as the seedlings aren't very hardy. They should keep getting bigger for a while and we can leave them in the ground over winter.

Hi Susiq, nice to see you back. I hope your Mam is recovering well. Congratualtions on your winning entries at the show and for becoming a celebrity in the local newspaper! I think you'll have to share the recipe for the bread & butter pickle.Smile

It is a bit chilly and grey here today - October 1st Sue - is it time for more garden photo's?

Richard, is your pond finished and ready for the frog to take up residence now?Big Smile

Ha ha ha, you know me too well Sue - but I didn't have a drink until after I got back from the hospital! My mam is improving slowly BB, they've said they are going to bring her home one day next week for a home visit, to asses how she copes walking around in the house, but they will be taking her back to the hospital.

That sounds good Miranda that you can leave the celeriac in the ground till required, think I will be up for planting some next spring. Yes Miranda, I've got the 'bug' now, so will have another go next year! I have to take the salver back to the president as it has to go off to be engraved, then I think I'll just stand it on the sideboard - something else to collect dust and need cleaning!!!!!

I will dig out the pickle recipe and post it later today, its an american recipe, I don't normally like recipes that talk in 'cups' for measurements, but it does work well.

Thanks for the info on collecting tomato seeds Miranda I'll have a look on your wildchicken site. I used this site to see how to air layer my shefflera plant.I did it about 6 weeks ago and waiting  for the roots to show in the bag before I separate it.Nice to see you again Susiq, glad your mam is improving.Yes my roof is fixed now thanks-mind you we have not any rain to test it yet! Well done with all your wins at the show, is your pic available in the newspaper on the net Susiq-it may be as there are loads of newspapers on there.  I use cups now to measure the ingredients for my rice pudding as it is quicker than getting the scales out!

Yes I just finished my pond about an hour ago BB.I saw the 2 frogs earlier in the undergrowth-I hope they will find their way to the pond now.I just took a picture of it:-

Thanks BB I  am  hoping it will last a while now, and I haven't got to siphon the water out again. I have been using Flickr and Photobucket for my garden photos just to try them both out and see which I prefer.   Not sure which one I like the best as they both have slightly different features.

    My flickr photos are :-

The pond looks good Richard, I'm sure the frogs will be very happy along with any other creatures that come to use itSmile

You have some lovely pictures in both of those albums too.  It took me a while to master Photobucket to begin with and when they changed some of the features (must have been about a year or so ago), it took a while to get used to the new changes.

Thanks Sue  for the comments on my pics. It took me a little while to see how to get the pics off photobucket to put on the posts-I think you told me how to do it in the end.Smile

Have you heard anything about how DiggerDevil is getting on Sue?

Lovely photo's Richard. The asters are looking beautiful. I don't use photobucket so I can't advise on which is best really. No reason why you can't continue to use both though?Smile

You figured out how to post the photos in the end RichardSmile

The last I heard from Digger was that he had another hospital visit at the end of September.

It's a bit chilly here too Richard.  The sun was out for most of the morning and it's hiding behind some clouds at the moment, it's a bit different to the heavy rain we were originally forecasted for today which now seems to have disappeared off the horizon.
