Hi everyone, I haven't got any tiny daffodils growing but I'm hoping i have some big ones that are good enoughWink

I got some more seed potatoes today from www.jbaseedpotatoes.co.uk , they are a company up in Annan and they have over seventy different cultivars and they will even send just a few tubers from each cultivar if you wanted to try some of them, I got mine for the showbench and some for eating they really are in good order, nice and clean without any cuts etc.. I am suitably impressed with them.as for the cheese cake I'm not a fan of cheesecake at all, so unfortunately I won't be joining in. It's still cold here with lots of snow still on the hill and we've got ice on our raod but it's slowly goin you've got more to come though susiq!!!Surprise

Happy belated birthday Miranda, sounds like it was a good one.

I am going to make the cheesecake, I love cheesecake and haven't had one since I got here...

If anyone wants some snow we can send it to them. At one point last night Caistor was shut down! The A46 was blocked because of a jackknifed lorry and the hill was so icy/snow covered that they (some people waiting there) were stopping the traffic at the top and letting one car at a time slide down the hill so as not to wreck them in a pile up. We ended up with about 6 inches or so of the big sticky flakes. It was so pretty to watch with a cup of coffee, horrid to drive in this morning tho.

Here are a few pictures.... the firstare the wolds snow covered and misty and the next is the lake down in Nettleton that has only a small bit of open water left and a lot of water birds in it...LOL

Really pleased you liked the cheesecake Sue1002, you are very welcome. Yes  There's never been any problem finishing it here either and it's a favourite at work as well.

Very glad your mam is back safely Susiq, I'm sure you're relieved.  Don't know about the typeface but hey, it makes your post stand out from the crowd. Big Smile

digger, unlike my lemon cheesecake recipe, you can't taste the cheese in this one at all.  My eldest isn't a fan of cheese and won't eat any other kind but would scoff all of this one.  I have all the seed potatoes I can use this year but will keep a note of that company for again digger.  I love it when you find a company that will be helpful in that way, sending a few tubers etc.  It is of course how they will keep their customers and saves them a fortune on advertising as word of mouth does it for them.

Good luck with the cheesecake Mrs Crocosmia, you won't regret it.  What beautiful pictures too and a lovely reminder of what summer looks like.

Now, I probably will get in trouble for this next question Embarrassed but I'm going to ask it anyway.  Are you Mr Crocosmia's Mrs or are the names just a coincidence?  Confused

I like savoury things best, I only ate cheesecake once many years ago when i was a child, it was something my mother had obtained from somwhere? knowing my mother it was probably being thrown away for being out of date or something but it made me violently ill! projectile vomiting and everythingIck!

I've never been able to even look at cheesecake since, I do like ice cream though, my favourite is tutti frutti with loads of jelly beans on top.

Big Smile  I remember sometime last year we talked about a recipe section - maybe we should think about it again!

digger, tell us what sort of savoury recipe you would like and I'll post something for you.

    Lemon Cheesecake

    Ingredients

    Base:     15 digestive biscuits

                  3oz butter

                  1 tsp sugar

    Filling:     large tin evaporated milk

                   220 g pack Philadelphia cheese

                  1 tbsp sugar

                   Lemon jelly

                   1 tsp vanilla essence

zest and juice of 1 lemon

    Method

Base:    Melt butter and sugar, add crushed biscuits and press into base of 9 inch loose bottomed tin

Filling:   Melt jelly 30 mins before use in 1/2 pt boiling water and leave to coolbut not set.  Half an hour later whip milk with electric mixer until doubled in volume.  In separate (large) bowl cream cheese and sugar, then add whipped milk.  Whisk together for a few minutes before adding jelly.  Add lemon juice and vanilla essence and mix again.  Pour over base and leave in fridge overnight to set.  Decorate with lemon zest.

Your son has very good taste Sue1002, I forgot to say the other evening please say thank you to him from me for posting the seeds.

Mrs Crocosmia, hope you like the recipe and thanks for indulging my nosiness, I do try to keep it under control but occasionally it escapes.

    Night everyone, sleep well.

Hi all, Those are mighty fine pictures there Mr. and mrs. Croc. Anemone I like spicy food but Oh isn't too she has ibs and so has to eat lots of awful boring pasta and the like, but i am lead to believe that girls like eating pasta. Today is surprisingly warm for the time of year or maybe the heatings been turned up? anyway OH is out at the stables and our young son has gone into the town with his friends, and his pocket money. I might vebnture into the front garden and do some tinkering with the hoe.

Thanks Anemone, I've printed that one off and will try it next weekend. Here's a recipe in return for Lemon meringe ice cream which we all like

      Ingredients

    50g (2 oz) broken meringues

    300ml (½ pint) double cream

Rind and juice of 1 lemon

    ½ jar lemon curd

    Method

    1. Whisk the cream until it is just beginning to thicken.

    1. Stir in lemon rind, juice and lemon curd and lastly fold in the broken meringues.

    1. Line a loaf tin with cling film and spoon in the lemon meringue mixture. Cover with cling film and freeze for at least 6 hours.

Take ice cream out of freezer 5 minutes before it is required, then slice to serve.

It's still pretty cold here but it is sunny and things are beginning to thaw out.

We all eat pasta here, my sons fave is macaroni cheese.

Big Smile  I like your logic Phot's.

The ice cream sounds very good Sue1002 - I love lemon dishes - I'll make it tomorrow as my brother and his wife will be here for lunch.  I'm going to cook barbecue chicken which looks and tastes very impressive but my secret ingredient is a bottle of Levi Roots Reggae Reggae sauce (of Dragons Den fame).  They will think I've slaved away with herbs and spices and marinades whereas all I have to do is put chicken legs in oven dish and pour sauce over. Wink

It's a mild, dull, wet day here.  My washing is hanging in the garage where it may not get much drier but at least it won't get any wetter.  I'm clkeaning mad today - it's good to have visitors every now and then as it makes me pay more attention to the cleaning, especially as it's a sister-in-law coming.  I wouldn't be half as particular for my own sister. Embarrassed
