Oh naughty Portia, does she do a lot of digging?  Sasha got told off for digging when she was a pup and soon got to realise that if she dug a hole or dug up a plant then the gate under the arch would be shut and would be confined to the patio area.  She didn't dig any more after that until a couple of days before she had her pups when she dug a huge hole under the Hypericum, I filled it in and as soon as my back was turned to put things back in the shed, she had hoiked it all back out again.

That is a very good price for your train ticket, hope you have a nice time with your daughter.

Still sunny here but the wind is picking up again.

"Oh naughty Portia, does she do a lot of digging?" Does she ever!!! My god she should have a medal for digging! I think it's perhaps in the terrier nature (Digger I'm sure will either confirm or deny this!). I've had Alsations, spaniels and even a British Bulldog, but this one is really the naughtiest and definately the most stubborn personality I've come across, but I also have to say she is totally totally adorable! (yeah yeah Digger its a girl thing)! Ha ha, I guess Sasha was doing the 'nest building' thing when she dug up the Hypericum!

Well, I will try and get on the board tomorrow, but I think I'm gonna be mega busy getting things ready for the weekend, and then I'll be off down South for a few days, so have a good weekend everyone and will catch up with you all next Friday when I get back. Hope the weather is good for all of us, tho' as its Glastonbury this weekend, I have my doubts!!!!

Hi all, The shed on stilts only has a clear roof so you could be right ,it may be too dark but i will have to find a use for it. Our young son is doing fine with his injury and most of his pain has thankfully subsided. Today we are in the midst of rain again. about three hours ago we had a massive thunderstormLightning it came down in buckets we had an inch of rain in less than four minutes (according to the local radio) it did chuck it down and Oh was outside in the horses field when it happened, and got soaked it is still raining now but not as hard it has rained all day, what did i say earlier about this summer being a repeat of last years/ thank goodness i have a couple of greenhouses.

So do I susiq, but it certainly looks that way, we had a lovely may again and since then it's all gone awry.I do have a polytunnel to finish putting up so that will have to be my next project...if we get a bit of let up from the rain! we are forecast for rain all tomorrow as well as today, just down the hill from here the river grille has backed up and some of the water is making it's way toward the road and the new unfinished house that are stupidly being built on the field with the river in it?

Oh for God's sake what is wrong with these people?! - anything to make a profit I guess - we went thru' hell to get planning permission to get a separate entrance to the little lodge in our grounds, which is on a no thru' country lane and does not interfere with anything or anyone, yet people can build a whole house in what is obviously a flood area! Sorry bout the rant but it makes me SO angry - bloody bureaucracy in this country just gets worse and worse and more worse (bad grammer I know, but it just makes me so cross!)Angry

Yes Susiq, Sasha was doing the nest building thing then but I wasn't going to let her have the pups there when it was a very cold February so instead she chose the bathroom floor (the only place I hadn't put down loads of newspaper).

I also find that dogs have a very cute way of saying sorry, it's just that look on their faces when they know they've done wrong, their ears are laid back and I bet they are thinking "you love me really, please don't shout at me."

Don't worry about having a rant, I was doing virtually the same yesterday when my brother came round and we were moaning about the price increases in everything going up but mainly about the fuel prices.  We both agreed that on that we are paying out more than our fair share, as well as paying the extra for ourselves we will end up paying out again and again especially now that places like the police force want more money for fuel for their vehicles and part of our council tax pays for the police force, so as well as paying for our own we are paying for theirs too, it doesn't seem fair but there's sod all we can do about it except for paying out time and time again.

It's good to hear your son is doing well digger, has he clouted anyone yet with his plaster?

That was a lot of rain you had today, one way of looking at it, is that the garden is getting a good wateringSmile

He can't bang his pot at all, he had an xray the other day Tuesday and the bones aren't entirely lined up he has to go back next week, they changed the plaster and our son was grossed out at the pins and wire that are sticking out of his arm, they told him not to bang it and so far he hasn't. It is still persisting down here and our friend down the road who lives nearest to the river rang to tell us the river has burst it's banks and is now using the road as an extra route!! the strange thing is that two years ago the council refused planning permission on the field because of flood risk, now all of a sudden they can build? maybe the building company has greased the wheels enough for a yes vote??? thankfully our friends house wn't get any water because it's higher up than the road level, the water will end up at the bottom of the road which has been named imaginatively as "hill drop", the rain is really getting to me and i know i shouldn't let it because it happens here almost daily but it's been so heavy and things are being wrecked. it is so dis heartening to see my plants getting wrecked by "mother nature"

Ah that's good your son is doing as he is told then digger.  Has the rain stopped your end yet?  It started here about an hour ago and I'm hoping the water butts will collect a decent amount this time.

Our rain last night amounted to all of another couple of inches in the water butt which is only just about enough to get a full watering can full.

It's crazy we have enough rain now for the rest of the year, a few places had minor floods yesterday caused by drains backing up, this morning it's cool and windy and at the moment the promised rain has not happened, I'm not complaing though.

Miranda I was interested to see you live in Nrth Lincolnshire as does The Wife`s Cousin. She is the Vicar in Winterton, and when we visited hera for a Vicarage Holiday :

There was two amazing happenings which happened simultaneously:

One was The Scarecrow Exhibition and the other The Gardens Open Day. When people opened up their back gardens. There was some really interesting ideas, like a woman made her garden appear larger by clever use of mirrors (which with the acid rain we experience in Argyll is not viable, yet) may be of use to you. The Cousin said it was a community decision which other villages also adopted and people travel round rthe vilages checking out the gardens and scarecrows does your village also take part in these events and if so do you have anypicsyou can share with the rest of us.

Just to let you know schol49 that it could be a quite while before Miranda gets back to you as she has moved away from Lincs and doesn't have internet access very often.
