Dear Backache I have been looking for a gardening jacket. You mentioned that you had an excellent one from Mr Bradley Burn the bramble glove man. Is yours on his website? I could not see it. poppikin

poppikin. I cannot see it on his main website either but when I looked at his heritage bramble gauntlet page and scrolled down there was one very similar to mine on the back of an uncomfortable looking wooden chair B

Backache I went on the heritage bramble gauntlet page and then the complete heritage section and not a chair in sight. Have I missed a trick? poppikin

poppikin, Sorry for the confusion but it is actually the Heritage Leather Gardening Glove page showing 2 sizes (7.5 and 10) at £30 and if you scroll down you quickly come to the photo of the chair, a pre-war fork, a leather hat and then the jacket. Mine was all brown leather but the one shown is leather at the top and a blue material below. If you cannot find it I will try to email the page to you directly but may not be clever enough to bo it Backache

Dear Backache Thanks. It must have cost two arms and two legs all in leather. Does it have sleeves? poppikin

Hello poppikin. No it does not have sleeves. Mine has exactly the same style as the one in the photo apart from being all leather and with a really thick woollen lining. Much too good to wear in the garden. I did buy it from Bradleys at Chelsea a few years ago now. At the time he had a good stock of them but I don't recall seeing any recently. I seem to recall it was something under £200. Expensive yes but in the long term I find that expensive things are often cheap and cheap things tend to be expensive.

Thanks Backache. I asked about the sleeves as I could not tell from the picture and I do need sleeves. The garment at this link looks similar to yours and a similar price http://www.bradleysthetannery.co.uk/products/heritage-leather-jerkin?variant=7672831235. I see that Mr Bradley Burn is at Blenheim Palace from 4 –7 AUGUST 2016. That is a bit far for me. Thanks again poppikin

Yes poppikin that does look very similar to mine. If anything it is better because my pockets are open topped whilst on this jerkin they can be button closed. I don't think there is a sleeve option though. If you were to travel to a show to see him I would certainly telephone him beforehand to make certain he will be showing the item you were interested in. Good Gardening. B

Thanks Backache. I thought it very reasonable at £180 and attractive being in natural tan leather too. I just missed Hampton Court which is near to me otherwise I probably wouldn't go. poppikin
