I have today received the following e-mail from the relevant RHS director and would publicly like to thank them for listening to requests to keep the forum.   Not confirmed yet, but great news.

"The final touches are being put to the new RHS website which we plan to launch in June (though depending on how testing of the beta version of the site goes, we made decide to delay 'go live' until after the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show).

As you know, the new site aims to host user discussion and debate in context throughout the site via discussion boards on individual articles rather than in a separate, discrete forum area.

However we recognise that there is a demand to have a general discussion page for the community of web users to come together and discuss topics of their choosing. We are therefore actively looking at how we can incorporate this facility into the new site.

I will keep you, and the MyGarden community, updated with this over the next few weeks. "

That is great news Faraway and hopefully they will find a way - where there's a will as they say!

That is great news Faraway!  Thank you so much for all your efforts on our behalf. You are an Angel. I wonder if the refugees on other sites know the news.

Thank you for bringing us the good news, Faraway. Thank you also to the RHS for listening and actively investigating possible solutions.

Give it a go - it might just work!

The latest reply I have had from the RHS (without specific mention of the forum), is

"......we are looking at later on this Autumn for a go-live of the new site."

Look forward to seeing the new site, hopefully with a forum intact.

    Hi all

I have just received an updated message from the director at the RHS -

"The intention is still to create a general discussion forum on the new site; however I think there may be a short gap between the closure of the My Garden forums and the opening of a new forum on the new site (which is scheduled to launch at the end of the Jan) "

Many thanks to him for letting us know.  We can only hope that the gap will indeed be short.

How short is 'short', I wonder? Particularly given that it has taken so long to get a new website up and running after the threatened closure date of early this year. We will have to hope that current MyGarden members will come back to the new forum when it returns.  It would be good if the RHS could email us all and let us know when the new site is up and running so current members could re-join.  Let's hope Admin reads this too.

Thanks for the good news Faraway.

Hi James As he has not come onto the forum and it was a reply to a private e-mail, I would prefer not to place his name here.
