A bot is  "software application that runs automated tasks over the internet".

Ah, so I guess this is the reason why after several emails sent to admin querying certain non functioning aspects of the forum, that I didn't receive a response. Thanks admin.

Well January and February have both been and gone, and this site still limps on. Anybody any news?

I hope that doesn't prompt them to realise that they should have shut this site down. I still find it useful and it's only quiet now because of the inability to get out in the garden and 'discover' things. PLEASE admin, don't shut us down!

I wouldn't be too sure they know this site is still operating.

From last years and the year befores experience this site does not get much busier in the "gardening season".

It will only improve if the RHS upgrades the site functionality and relaunches it and as they have  not done anything since Feb 2013 I wouldn't hold your breath. The most likely outcome is that at some point they will replace/upgrade the server and that will be that.

I contacted the RHS web people about this site and future plans for it. That was two months ago, to date despite a couple of reminders I've only had  automated acknowledgements. So it looks as if this site is being ignored deliberately and being left to wither and die like an unwatered pot plant.

If a moderator or anybody from the RHS sees this message would you please respond to my email either here or to me directly.

    Thank you.

Don't encourage them to take this site down. I regularly check it, although have been on holiday for a week, so didn't respond immediately.

I would not describe my email as encouragement to take the site down, rather a request for information regarding the future of this site. At the moment it is not particularly user friendlyand could definitely do with an upgrade.

I probably only log on once a month on average. Quite often there are no new posts let alone discussions in that period.

    Morning

I've had a response from the RHS re this forum. I add it below.

    Hi Nigel,

This years the mygarden part f the website is being looked at by developers and we are hoping to re-vamp it.

I unfortunately do not have any dates of when this will be done by but it is defiantly a project that is in progress.

    Kind regards

    RHS Webmaster

Note it is defiantly in progress not definitely.

Thanks for this, Nigel. I too love that they are defiant or is that a reference to us? I remain ever hopeful that this part of the website stays and is as easily accessible as it always has been. I would hate it to become 'members of RHS only'. I assume it has taken a while to get this response so I also assume we don't hold our breath for any changes too. Thanks again.

Thanks for that Nigel. Over the last few months, I have been in touch with someone else at the RHS and also had a long telephone chat with him. At his request at the time, I did not post anything, but he too said that progress was being made regarding the project and the future of this site - he was quite positive that something may be done. Hope to hear more in the next few months.
