I have taken out a clump of euphorbias under a large walnut tree. The soil is good but rooty, Any ideas what I could plant instead?
It would help to know if ti is a black walnut or a common walnut. Black walnuts are allelopathic which means that they secrete a chemical that can be poisonous to other plants.
If you do not know which it is and cannot identify it, it is best to play safe and plant "tolerant" plants. You can find a list at http://gardening.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=gardening&cdn=homegarden&tm=147&f=00&tt=13&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//hort.uwex.edu/articles/black-walnut-toxicity
Hope this helps
