I'm going to have my first shot at semi-hardwood cuttings, with lonicera nitida, which I believe is easy to propagate. Despite lots of internet searching I can't discover how hardy thee cuttings are likely to be when winter comes. Could I keep them fully outside in a sheltered corner (well wrapped up, protected within a tub, pots bubble-wrapped and with fleece on hand for frost)? The intermediate option is my growhouse, but that's going to be chock-a-block with my existing plants. The other alternative is my kitchen, which is unheated in winter and pretty chilly. Ideally I'd like to keep them outdoors - but is this a recipe for cutting death as soon as the frosts come? PS I'm in South Wales, just inland from the coast, so in theory relatively mild winters (though it's not that warm now, in 'summer'!)

We have a hedge of L.nitida down our drive, we took cuttings. They are ever so easy to take. We just put loads of cutting all shapes and sizes in soil. Most took. We now have another hedge 60' long and my 45' sq maze, which took about 1100 plants. With a variety of topiaries dotted about. They don't need any special care or treatment, Nor does under cover make any difference to those bunged in outdoors.

Wow! that's good news! Even easier! I'll have a go at just sticking them in the ground then. With some in reserve dotted around. Here goes!
