     Hello all,

Have only been in my house since last October and have noticed over the last couple of months what looks like a shrub infesting my lawn. It seems to be spreading by the week. I think it is spreading via runners. If anybody can help to identify the imposter and how to get rid of it, it will be much appreciated.

    Thanks for your help,

    George

your lawn looks like someone has been throwing around a mismatched grass seed, possible suggesting that some larger growth has been cut back before you moved in and they havnt bothered to pull the roots of the shrub out. i cant see any detail from your pic but it does look like something unknown i myself pulled out of someones garden recently and i have a couple of shoots potted up. its not necessarily a highly invasive shrub-just one that used to occupy that space on purpose perhaps? does it look like a place someone might like to plant a shrub? does it have any flowers to speak of?

    Welcome George.

    Difficult to see clearly.

    Do they form a circle.

    courierdude may have the answer.

A large tree /shrub in middle of ring,  removed before you moved in , but the roots are still growing and sending up suckers.

Glyphosate/ Round up is the answer. Spray the leaves of invading suckers.

It is not an instant killer. It works slowly by taking poison back to the roots.

You may need a few attempts if more pop up.

Do not be tempted to dilute at different strength to info on label.

Alternative, if not too woody, is continual mowing will kill it.
