Has anyone had any experience with these please? I have had 4 bushes, two each of the suggested friendly varieties, for three years now. This year we have had a modest crop of minute purple fruit which tasted absolutely terrible. So bad that you feel they must be good for you but, really, i could never acquire a taste for them in a hundred years. It may just be me but I would be interested to learn if others have more positive views on this fruit! Thank you for your attention

I haven't been impressed with my bushes yet but I did receive them as tiny plants about 2-3 years ago and they haven't grown very much at all (two are just over a foot high and the third one is smaller than that).  I'm guessing that once mine get quite a bit bigger, they might then start fruiting...

Thank you very much for that. I think our bushes are now in their fourth year. Two of one variety are now over 3 feet high with a very upright habit. The other two are around 18 inches and very sprawling. The upright two had very small purple fruit whist the other were green and somewhat larger. In both instances the many of fruit disappeared overnight. I always thought blackbirds had more sense but perhaps they haven't.

Their natural habitat is swamps; are you keeping them moist enough?

Mine are 2 yrs old and there were a couple of fruits this year. They weren't the shape I expected, but i tried tham anyway and yes they were horrible. But the time that the fruit was supposed to form to produce sweet fruits was absolutely terrible here and I put it down to the immaturity of the shrubs too.
