Last year my pear tree had an abundance of fruit, this year it only has about 2 or 3. My apples, plumb and other pear tree are fine.

Any suggestions as to why my one pear tree has failed to produce?

It would be useful to know the variety and age of the tree but this sounds like a case of "biennial bearing".  Many fruit varieties are susceptible to this, and it means the tree will have alternate heavy and light cropping years.  In effect the tree takes a year off to recover from the heavy crop.

There is not much you can do right now this year, but if I am right then this time next year the tree will have a lot of fruitlets, and you should thin them out aggressively.  That will prevent the tree over-cropping next year, which should in turn restore it to a more normal regular annual cycle.

The other possibility is incorrect pruning, but since your other pear tree is doing fine I don't think it is a pruning problem.
