Hi Minnie.
A name very precious to me. Both my mum and sister had that name.
Minnie. I have to agree with my dear friend and forum member, Silver Surfer. Believe me. This member really has a wealth of horticultural knowledge.
Mike.

Thanks for this. I thought the photos were OK but obviously not. I am definitely going to dig this up as I can't have a 30-40 foot tree in my front garden. Maybe I can persuade it to become a Bonsai version! Appreciate your help. Minnie

Minnie, spotted the pics in your flickr library while looking at mysterious hairy yellow flowered plant! Confirms Norway maple. Often planted in supermarket car parks. A beautiful tree, but yes it does get rather large.

Silver Surfer
Thank you for this. Plant has been dug up and put into a very small pot. If it survives the root damage, I may be able to create a bonsai out of it!
I have an oak tree shrinking to a bonsai after about 3 years which I believe has grown from an American oak acorn brought back some years ago. The leaves are shrinking this year to slightly smaller than the English oak, so am hopeful I can get it down to a bonsai size within the next couple of years.
Fingers crossed.
Thanks
