Having moved in to our new home only in November, we are now just discovering that the whole garden seems to be infested with slugs. They must be in the soil as they attack almost all new plantings.

Does anyone know if there is a liquid that I could apply to all growing areas that would kill them off, whilst in the soil rather than using slug pellets etc to kill them topically ?

    Many thanks..............ebt Sad

Slug Clear. It is a liquid Metaldehyde you water in. Don't use it in the vegetable patch.

     I am slug infested, too.

As I try to avoid chemicals, I go out every night in the spring and damp nights in the summer and collect them from the veg garden.  This is the third spring, and the count is down from 4-600 per night to just 1-200.  I sow hardly anything in situ, have a table made from a couple of pallets with a rough metal mesh on the legs for all the seedlings and use rings of copper cut from old heating pipes to plant out most things.

I am sure my neighbours think I'm nuts but its nice to hear and see the night time wildlife.

     Good luck

Clay with boulders and less than an inch of topsoil...

Many thanks for both replies. I think the liquid metaldehyde seems best for me as I really want to get right into the soil.
