I believe it is Aralia spinosa. Grows tall and suckers to form large clumps.
To be sure would you please check the trunk/ stem by carefully running your hand up it.
If I am right it will be prickly!

Hi. We havent seen it in the summer yet (only moved in in october), but having had a look at it last night I believe its the Aralia spinosa as it does look very similar.
It could well be Aralia elata.
However, this also has spines! We have one and it is lethal.
