Butternut squash and pumpkin

    Hi ,ive put some butternut squash and pumpkin seeds in my loft to help them germinate,which they have and found that they have gone very leggy. I have put them straight into my greenhouse. Will they be alright.thanks

    You must have a warm loft.Nothing would germinate in mine but meanwhile you need to get those young plants into as light a position as you can but not outside until all danger of frost is past. Here that is about the second week in May.If its not too cold and you are short of windowsills at least get them out in the day but in at night.

    Thanks for the advice ,I was quite surprised how quick they came up .I normally have trouble trying to germinate butternut squashes in my greenhouse so I tried growing them in the loft and they all came up .

    I have had the same problem with courgettes grown indoors in a propagator. One day they had sprouted through - a few days later they had reached the top of the prop. Presume not enough natural light so now they are in my greenhouse. Planted some new seeds in case they don't make it.
