Hi Julie
Thanks very much for quick reply.

Hello 2 looks like another hellebore to me. 3 Erythonium "Pagoda" http://www.rhs.org.uk/Gardens/Wisley/About-Wisley/Plant-of-the-month/April/Erythronium--Pagoda- 6 looks like lemon balm, do the leaves have a lemony smell when crushed? 7 could be Choisya ternata Nigel

Ground elder you have to dig up removing as much of the roots as possible. It will regrow from any pieces of roots left behind. You'll probably have to keep doing that for a few years as you'll see sprouts of it appearing. For the last few years I've been doing that (also had it covering an area of the garden). I thought I might have cracked it last summer but I had to remove a few plants last week.

Hi Silver surfer
Thanks for the replies and the links
Aegopodium podagaria is this a ground covering plant worth keeping or is it like Julie suggests a weed.
Thanks

Apologies. I did not mean to confuse you or disagree with Julie's post.. Aegopodium podagraria is the latin name for ground elder! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aegopodium_podagraria It is a cute low growing plant. However the major problem is that it is a thug, an extremely invasive weed that is pretty difficult to remove/ exterminate! I hate using weed killer/ chemicals. but I might be tempted for ground elder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundup_(herbicide) Hope this helps.
