not really a garden problem I know, but has the long mild autumn made for an unusually fly-infested year? My white-painted window frames and also inside of the house seems to have been very attractive to large numbers of house flies this season. Problem fading now of course with the advance of late autumn, but I'd still like to know if anything can be done to decrease the number of house flies - I don't mean spraying. any advice welcome!

The sticky flower shaped traps to put on windows work quite well but get the proper branded ones (rentokill) as some of the own brand ones don't seem to attract the flies.I hate flysprays but sometimes use the insecticidal pens which you can "paint " onto lampshades if they are collecting there.
