If you could spare around five minutes on a multiple-choice questionnaire about My Garden that would be wonderful.

The survey ‘What makes online communities successful?’ is part of a wider, non-commercial research project. So, not only will you be helping provide RHS My Garden with information that can be used to make it a better place, but you’ll be helping a student's MSc studies too.

For full info about the study follow this link to the first page of the questionnaire.

    Many thanks for your help.

Is anyone else having trouble with this, or is it just me? I complete the first page of questions, hit 'next', and get taken back to the beginning, and just go round and round, reanswering the first two questions. Which is boring and unhelpful.

    Oh lucky Sue.

Are you related to the wife of Mister Woo.

Sorry. No offence meant.  Just recalling a line from George Formby.

Sue, may I address you so?

I have been attempting to sign in to the RHS members area for the past couple of days.  Password not accepted.  So I went through the ins and outs of changing my password.  What a waste of time.  This is not the only site/forum etc that so often developes these problems.  You would think that all these IT whizz-kids could get it right.  I pity the poor sould who is still on dial-up internet.

    Best regards Sue.

    Mike.

    Oh, admin.

    Please forgive my bluntness etc.

Whatever induced your goodself, or another, to come up with this survey?

From my brief association with 'My Garden'  In truth.  I have found it interesting.  I am 72 yrs of age.  Since the last moments of WW2 I have been gardening.  I have also been a police officer, but horticulture has been my lifelong persuit.  One never stops learning, and even as a retired professional, I am not ashamed to admit that,so much can be learned from the basic gardener.

The forum, 'My Garden'.  Please ladies.  Don't misinterpret  this.  Yes.  I have found that most of the contributions are from the preetiest and most attractive of our species.  [How's that for a bit of flattery?]  No. In all honesty.  There are so many genuine questions posed.  What's this?  Should it be like this?  Pesonally I have always found it of extreme importance when studying or persuing a particular interest.  That personal research etc, so much, adds to to flavour, if you like.  Of the search.  Obviously, not wishing to offend any member/contributor.  Sometimes the forum does, teter on the borders of Mrs Dales Diary.

Notwithstanding that the RHS is and continues to be a charity, and in the words of Lord Aberconway.  To futher and encourage interest etc in horticulture.  All contributions are most valid and accepted.

Why the backroom boffins needed to pose this survey.  IMHO.  It just gave them something to do.

Please one and all.  Let's continue to enjoy our gardens, large or small.  Please remember.  The interest is in the flora, NOT the personalities.

    Boffins.  Leave well alone.  Please.

It ought not to be allowed!

    To All Concerned.

My recent post.  Please may I offer my most humble and sincere apologies, for however it has been viewed.

I will not attempt to elaborate upon it.

In all truth.  Last evening when I posted.  I realise that I was completely at sixes and sevens.  It was my worst day so far experienced, since losing my wife.

    Please accept my apologies.

    Regards to all.

    Mike.

I have now completed the survey. I had to change browsers to do so - I normally use Google Chrome, which works very well for everything except this forum. I've asked Admin about this before but never had an acknowledgement, let alone a solution. Now perhaps something will be done about this, and about simplifying uploading photos, as obviously the organisation is suddenly interested in our views (Hello, Admin!). Onwards and upwards!

I started to complete this survey but stopped as some of the questions appeared to be fashioned for a completely different organisation to the RHS often seeming total irrelevant and, sometimes, even stupid. My partner came to the same conclusion. But perhaps we are both over cautious.

I've just completed the survey using Chrome successfully - I have had problems with other surveys on Chrome so was pleased to be able to complete this one! I don't have (and refuse to have) any other browsers on my laptop and haven't had any problems using the site. I know there are some sites I use for work which require an extension to be installed to view video clips but once installed they work a treat (the main one is Internet Explorer extension).
