No, not a trendy dish from Heston Blumenthal!

I have read that sowing turnip among couch grass will eliminate it - This question was also raised, but not really answered on last weeks GQT.

Anyone tried this and does it work?

This will be fantastic news if it works...I struggle in the fight against couch grass on my allotment. Interestingly I am growing turnip in one of my beds and this bed is showing no signs of couch regrowth but I've no way of knowing if this is due to its hatred of turnip or my continuous dig an dremove approach.

I feel an experience coming on though....

     Hi Willco,

Is the dreaded couch grass growing in any of your other beds, which I guess you also dig carefully and remove the CG?

hi yes it does to seem to have regrown in other beds. Its vigour does seem to be on the decline in my beds though. I've had my allotment 18months and feel as if I've spent every visit digging and removing CG.

I've just pulled up the last of my turnips and turned the soil - no obvious sign of couch but I'm keep watching to see if it returns now the turnips is out.
