I planted a fan trained peach last winter against a south facing fence and after hand-pollinating the blossom I have been rewarded with lots of lovely fruit. However some of the fruits have holes at the point where the stone is closest to the bottom of the fruit. There is some discolouration around this hole and just inside but the rest of the fruit is fine. I have not seen any culprit to identify. The tree is protected from birds. Does any one know what is causing this damage?
