I was told be an 85 year old gardener that planting grape hyacints under an apple tree are toxic to the tree. ???
I have had Muscari latifolium under a hawthorn (same family as apple)for over 10 years and the tree is flourishing.
The old gardener may be right; but I have had grape hyacinths under a Grenadier apple for the last 20 years.
sorry for the late reply but thanks anyway for your advice, I think i'll give it a go and plant some under the trees, by the way did you see yesterday the Eden's project ? A river of grape hyacints flowing over the top of a globe, brilliant !!!
