Interestingly for a bird that was once so common, they do seem to favour particular habitats.

That was a very interesting read Miranda. The front of my house has alot of very dense ivy growing up the walls and this is always full of sparrows, they sit in there during the day singing and calling away and they roost in there at night too. In my back garden I have lots of rambling roses that I have let grow totaly out of control and they too are always full of sparrows. Although I have been cutting the roses back I will make sure there is enough left for them and I will be leaving the ivy alone.

Well, that's an interesting read too, lillyrose. Glad to hear you've got sparrows where you are and that they're in those places too - they're turning out to be pickier about where they live than I'd thought, but it's good to figure out what they actually want.
