Morning all, it's warming up nicely outside already and looks like we could be in for a hot one today.

You're the same as me lillyrose, when it's really hot outside, I'll either be sitting indoors in the cool or somewhere in the shade.

I think you could be right Richard about having a good autumn, I expect that's when my tomatoes will start to ripen.  I noticed yesterday that the first of my spaghetti squashes has just started forming, they are way wait this year to form let alone grow and I planted them out at the same time of year I always do and usually by now, I'm picking the first one to eat.  Never mind, better late than neverSmile

Have a good day everyone and will catch up again after work.

Afternoon all and a beautiful day here. OH and I managed a trip to the rubbish tip today, so that was a bonus job done - to get rid of a pile of junk that was piled up in one area of the garden. It's where we store the logs for the fire and there are 3 buddleiah (sp?) bushes there as the soil is quite poor and they are absolutely beautiful this year - full of blooms and simply buzzing with wildlife. Glad to hear you've outfoxed the slugs with your cunning plan Richard. We have flowers on 3 surviving runner bean plants (out of 12) so hopefully some beans when we get back from hol. A few new ones in a pot so hope you're right about a mild autumn - was camping last Ocober in the Brecon Beacons so a few days like that would be great. Sue we are going to France - staying in a (French)friend's house in the Mayenne, and then joining them in their holiday home in Brittany next week some time - so some sunshine would be welcome, their weather is pretty much the same as here and has been pretty wet so far. I am going to put some veg seeds in trays this afternoon, black radish (a new one to me)and a few other bits and bobs. Have a nice afternoon everyone.

    Hiya all,

Another warm one here, thank god! I uncovered a horrible ant nest yesterday in the polyIck! It made me itch for ages!

Ha ha ha Sue you really do know me only too well - I have got the 'before' pic so farEmbarrassed

Richard, not long now before Nic flies the nest, are you and C getting her a housewarming pressie, and have you seen her new place yet?

Ooh Deb, hope you have a lovely holiday in France, sounds wonderful, am really envious, all that lovely foodStick out tongue

Lillyrose, I got a Beko for the lodge, and can honestly say its the bestest fridge freezer I've ever owned, our one in here is on its last legs (water pools everyday in the fridge), but I've done a competition to win a Beko, so fingers crossed! hee hee, thank god there's no cat's around here, I dread to think how Percy would react - much like Moo I guess!

I'm trying a new recipe tonight, courgette cakes they sound really nice, but will let you know tomoz how they actually were!

Hi all, that's me finished at work for this week.

Have a lovely time in France Deb, the weather should be quite hot there for the next week if they get the same weather as us.  I've not heard of black radish before.  I tried some white ones this year and the whole lot ran to seed before they could get to a size big enough to be picked.

Good luck with the comp Susiq.  The courgette cakes sound good, I have a recipe somewhere for a chocolate courgette cake which I haven't got round to trying yet.

     Hi everyone.

I am late on parade today, have spent all day in the garden and feeling very smug. It has been mostly cloudy here with just a few sunny bits so thought I would make the most of it and catch up. Done loads of weeding, cut back the russian vine hedge, lots of dead heading and then planted up lots of salad bits and a whole bed of potatoes.

So far I am thrilled to bits with my Beko Susiq, I can see what Sue meant though when she said I would notice how much narrower the inside of the freezer is on todays models. Good luck with your attempt to win oneBig Smile. My old one was a very dark silver grey colour and the Beko is white and it has made a huge difference to the kitchen. Looks so bright in there. Mmmm love the sound of the courgette cakesStick out tongue. I can send you next doors cat for Percy if you likeWinkDevil

Morning all, it's warming up nicely outside already and looks like we're in for another hot one with no rain forecast so I should be able to get the grass cut once it has dried out.

You did well in the garden yesterday lillyrose.  When I get back from town, I'm going to pot up the pansy seedlings.

If Percy wants some cats to play with Susiq, there's plenty around here I could send him but then I'd have to catch them first...

Hi all and another lovely day here today too SueCool. Nic is in Exeter for the weekend, for a christening, and is going to the Eden Project today with her bf, they have been there before. Dave has just gone to see a football match with his pals today Leicester City v Sunderland.

Glad you are getting some sun now too Susiq. Nic is going to move around mid September, so we will have an empty house  then after she has taken all her things, we will all miss her though.

We have a Beko upright freezer lillyrose and like Susiq are very pleased with itYes. I dug up some more potatoes this morning so was pleased with those:-

We have one runner bean ready to pick now Deb and a few runner beans  on the way. I started off a few more a few weeks ago and they are about 8 inches tall now, so I will plant those out later. We used to live about 15 miles from the Brecon Beacons Deb so loved going there for a trip out from time to time. Hope you have a great time in France. I wish you and your OH a bon voyage!!Automobile

Those spuds look good Richard and snap, I dug up some spuds from the garden earlier on.  They were the last ones for me to dig up and now I have the space where they were, I will plant the leeks into that part.

     Hi everyone.

It has been a lovely day here, sunny but with a nice breeze, just how I like itSmile.

Sue my white radishes went to seed too, they were the ones you sent me. I haven't heard of black radish either. Are the pansies you are potting up from the seeds I sent you, if they are they have grown quickly.

Your spuds look very nice Richard, I can almost taste them, dripping in butterStick out tongue. Hope Nicola has a nice time away, you will certainly miss her when she goes.

It's been lovely and breezy here too lillyrose which has helped keep the temperature down a bitYes

Yes, the pansy seedlings I potted up are from the seed you sent meBig Smile  They came up nice and quickly in the greenhouse and I've got 64 of them potted in cell trays which should fill a few baskets and pots to give some lovely colour in the winterBig Smile

Those white radishes are the ones that I bought in Wilkinsons, whether it was the weather they didn't like or because they were cheap seed, I don't know but I don't think I'll try with those again, I'll stick to my tried and trusted ones in future methinks.

Hi all.  Your duck sounds lovely lillyrose.

We were enjoying the good weather today, we were sat in the gardens of a pub enjoying a roast beef dinner with DIL and GSBig Smile  Good thing we were sitting outside though as when we left, we noticed that most of what GS had to eat (a small amount of each of our plates) had been either dropped or thrown under his highchairWink although he did enjoy what he did eat.

Morning all, cloudy here but still really warm.

Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday Sue, made me smile about the food under GS's high chairBig Smile,I know that only too well. These days though most of it ends up in Maisie not on the floorWink. GS latest ' thing ' is feeding her everything.

Well first lot of washing is on the line and second lot has just finished spinning so had better get on. Need a good catch up indoors today then the front garden needs weeding yet again.

    Have a good day all

Morning all, my second lot has just gone on the line too lillyrose and I'm hoping it will get dry before we go off to see a friend after lunch but looking at the sky outside, it might not be too long before it starts raining, although that isn't supposed to hit us until this evening.

I can imagine Maisie is very quick to hoover up what your GS gives her, we could have done with her or Sasha yesterday to help clear up all the messWink
