I know what you mean about trees looking a lot bigger when they're down than up Deb, we had to chop our cherry tree down a few years ago and even though it was only one tree, it did let a lot more light into the garden.

It's good to hear your mum is on the mend lillyroseYes  You must be looking forward to having some time to yourself and the weather to be good to be able to spend some time on your own gardenSmile

Here's a pic of Sasha taken yesterday, she was eyeing up the apple tree and when she saw me looking, she yawned instead!

That's a shame to have the rain on your first day back at work Miranda, let's hope the rest of the week is better for youSmile

It was sunny when I left here this morning to go to my friends (about 20 miles away) and at one point, the rain was coming down so hard, I couldn't see where I was going even with the windscreen wipers going at their fastest speed.  Luckily it only lasted like that for about 30 seconds but it felt like an awful lot longer and we didn't see any more rain until we got back home later this afternoon.

Thanks for the pic of Sasha SueBig Smile, wonder how long it will be till she starts 'helping herself'. Now I know how she manages to drink from your bird bath, seeing where it is. We have had rain on and off here all afternoon but no where as bad as you did when drivingSurprise.

Glad you are all mended now Miranda, just make sure you stay that wayWink. Hope you enjoyed whatever it was making the nice smells in your kitchenSmile

Haha MirandaSmile I will save you some communion wine and then we can share a glass togetherDrinks... Drinks. So glad that you are feeling much better now.Right Hug

The slimy gitsSnail SnailSnail have made a meal of my sunflowers this year lillyrose and there are just stems left.Sad...I usually keep the sunflower stalks for tying my runner beans too but this year no such luck.

Glad you escaped the flooding Deb...we will have to swap rice pudding recipes  if you like, Yes yours sounds so good my friend :-) Stick out tongue

Morning all, it's sunny here at the moment and it looks like we might be in for a nice day.

Glad you liked the picture of Sasha, she hasn't attempted to take any apples off the tree this year yet but she has been looking at them as she goes past, maybe she's heard me saying that there are not many on there at all this yearWink either that, or they're not at the stage that she likes them...

All my sunflowers got stripped by the slugs and snails too RichardSad

Morning all - dull here but, so far, dry today. Lovely looking dog, Sue. We have a 9 year old Springer Spaniel, and we are currently looking after our friend's retriever, he's only just over 1 year so still very bouncey and a lot bigger than is really good for our little house. Richard, when we bought our place there were many grapevines in the garden and the previous owner used to make the communion wine for the local church. Not sure if it would have to be blessed in some way. We had to remove the vines as they were something of a dominating feature in the garden. I finished cutting trees and almost finished tidying branches away yesterday before the heavens opened - it will only take me about half an hour to finish off. I did not get the rose arch done but hope to do that today. My elbow is very sore from over-enthusiastic sawing so I need to take it easy on that front today. I must feed my tomatoes too as we are away on hols at the end of the week. lilyrose, my pics are in the 'over the garden fence section'; I wasn't quite sure where to put them and though that was as good a place as any. OH nurtured our sunflowers in the greenhouse and they are now in pots and tubs on a hard standing area so hopefully we have defeated the slugs on that front (I think they were too busy enjoying my courgette plants) Have a good day everyone.

I'd love to see a pic of your dog Deb, Sasha is also 9 and has quite a few springer friends over the park.

I don't blame you for taking it easy today especially after all that sawing!  I've been into the garden this morning and pulled up the peas as they've all finished.  I was hoping to make a start on some weeding but as soon as I'd finished pulling the peas out, it started raining and bang goes my plan to mow the lawn this afternoon now...

Really sorry to hear about your mum LillyroseRight Hug Hope she is well and truly on the road to recovery by now? Also hope Miranda is much improved too.

Gorgeous pic (as always) of the lovely Sasha Sue, and great pics of your garden Richard.

Hi from me too to Peter Rabbit, welcome to our gossipy forumWink Where I live, we have LOTS of low flying Airforce planes practising overhead - the noise is incredible, and I would absolutely love to be in one of those!

Phot's your wedding pics looked really lovely.

Deb, you look like you are doing very well in the tom stakes, I'll go and have a 'nosey' of your garden pics after I've done this post.

I have finally transformed the lodge garden today - will post before and after pics a bit later! Ha ha we came 2nd last in the quizz - not much change there eitherWink

Hello All..its great to hear from you again Susiq and glad you had a wonderful time with your daughter last week. WhisperNicola is off to Wales tomorrow again for a weekAutomobile to help get her new place sorted before she moves there in September.

It was great to see your garden Deb, you have a lot of room there to grow plenty of flowers and vegSmile. I have some flowers on the runner beans now so it shouldn't be long before there will be some beans on themYes.

The weather should be better now Sue, until the weekend..according to the weather reportsWink. So let's hope that they are right and then you will be able to cut the grassBig Smile.

Nice to see you back Susiq and glad you had the really good weather last week when your daughter was stayingYes  Look forward to seeing the lodge pics (once you get round to doing themWink)

Your runner beans sound about the same as mine Richard, as mine have only been in flower for a day or two but as most of the plants got eaten by the slimy gits, the number of plants are a bit thin on the ground.

     Hi everyone

Nice to have you back Susiq, glad you had a nice time with Daughter. The time has flown though, only seems like yesterday you were waiting for her to arrive. Looking forward to the lodge pics too.

Richard, I must have missed your garden picsConfused, will have to go back and look for them. Every single one of my runners was eaten by SnailSnailSnail this year Sad, I also lost all the french beans so I have planted up a hanging basket of them and put it nice and high, hope they survive.

Well this morning I went fridge freezer shopping as mine packed in yesterday. I chose a lovely frost free Beko one from a shop in the town and it was delivered this aft. I also had the two fruit trees dropped off to me that I told you about a couple of weeks ago. One is a Conference pear and the other a Braeburn apple. They are both container trees and about six foot tall and look lovely and healthy. There is nothing on the pear tree but the apple has two little apples on Big Smile.

We haven't had any rain today Sue, shame you couldn't cut the grass. It doesn't matter to me as we got rid of all our grassWink

Morning all, it's drizzling here at the moment but things should brighten up later on.

That was nice and quick getting the new fridge freezer delivered lillyroseYes  Your two new trees sound good too, when I buy apples, Braeburn is the one I buy most often.

Have a good day everyone and will catch up again after work.

Morning all. Pretty wet start to the day but as promised it has brightened up. Rose arch is done, all trimmed and neat and tidy. Have also fed tomatoes and OH is doing the grass now. Just want to feed my patio pots and then we are on top of all the outdoor jobs before our holiday. Hope those of you working have had a productive day, and those of us at leisure have enjoyed ourselves too.

Didn't get much sun Sue but at least it stayed dry all afternoon. If our local weather is right then we are in for sunny hot days now right through the weekend and in to early next week. Trouble is once it gets too hot I end up indoors.

Sounds like you have had a productive day DebYes.

I am going to have to go, Moo is outside in the garden and is barking her head off, think next doors cat is on our garage roof again driving her mad as she can see him but cant get to him..............
