Hi all, we had a lovely few hours at OH's mums, it was nice sitting in her living room in the shade and once we got back in the car, it said it was 28.5°C outside. Sorry to hear you haven't got the good weather like we have Susiq, perhaps you might be getting what we're currently getting next week when it goes lousy again here.

Good morning, and thank you all for the warm welcome to the site. I used to have gypsy tart at school (in Kent) so I think it is a Southern thing or even South East.
Well, it is set to be another scorcher today and I hope to cut some grass this morning before it gets too meltingly hot.
I will happily post some garden photos once I fathom the mysteries of posting pictures on this forum - I have used tinypic on another forum, so will that work on here do you think?
I am very tempted to post some pics of my tomatoes which seem to be something of a success - is it beginners luck do you think?
Hope everyone is managing to enjoy the summer even if its not your turn yet for the sunshine. Happy gardening!

Morning all, it's another glorious one here today but it could get a bit hot for my liking later on! It sounds like your tomatoes are doing really well Deb, usually at this time of year, my ones in the greenhouse are a good four foot high and laden with green tomatoes ready to ripen up but this year, they are so far behind (not enough heat in April and May) that they are only about two foot high and I have about six tomatoes forming between 10 plants... Have a lovely day everyone, we are off out shortly - today's trip is Hyde Hall then we might go down to either Southend or Westcliffe on Sea as that's not too far away from there.

Hi everyone,
Sadly another grey one here Well Deb and Sue, you are both ahead of me in the tomato stakes - I've got two toms forming out of 12 plants! They are quite tall now though and have flowers on them - get the feeling there will be a lot of green tomato chutney to be made this year!
Ooh Sue enjoy yourself at Hyde Hall, I loved it there. Hope you remember your camera, I expect there will be some lovely specimens in bloom.

Hi everyone. Sorry Susiq but we have another scorcher here . It is far too hot to garden so will have to make do with a cold drink and a gardening mag in the shade . I have got toms ripening but not many and the plants are very weedy looking and small. I am having trouble with PB so have up loaded pics on my FB garden freinds. Hope you have a lovely day out Sue and hope you do take pics . Sorry for the short post but the garden is calling

Hi guys I've not been on the forum awhile and I have to say that unti I read your post sue1002, I thought MY Toms weren't doing that well but (in the greenhouse) they are 6' or so but with nothing like the number of fruit of previous years. We are picking a few, first time I have tried "Sungold"...OMG what a taste. Beans are still only 2' up the canes and even the lettuce have been really slow this year. The only good news is that my "Hot Cayenne" & "Early Jalapeno" chillis seem to be thriving!
p.s. The dwarf beans got eaten by mice as soon as they put their poor little heads through and practically sod all apples either. p.p.s. It's just stopped pissing with rain here in Cumbria for the first time in 24hrs, enjoy your sun guys.

Good day all...its a scorcher of a day here too lillyrose (sorry again Susiq). Its great to hear from you again Roundelder, I wondered where you were my friend. I hope you are enjoying the summer now that you are not working at the care home. Its good to see how you and your garden are getting on. My tomatoes are only about 2 foot tall but some of my runner beans are at the top of the canes and starting to flower. I put my photos on Photobucket Deb, so then you can link to them from this forum. I have used Flkickr too which works but I reached my limit there of 200 pics. There is some useful info here on the RHS site about uploading pics to your posts Deb. I had a look for it but can't remember where it is now..does anyone know where it is?
Hope you have a good day at Hyde Hall Sue and later by the sea. Looking forward to see your pics if you take any...

I am good thanks Roundelder, hows about you. Enjoying life at a slower pace I hope . Phew it's been hot here today, me being me, I decided to do a bit of gardening so just after I commented about Roundelder I went down the veggie garden to do some weeding. Well. I dont know what I touched but when I came back in I washed my hands and sat down with a cold drink then rubbed my eyes as they were feeling itchy and OMG all hell broke loose. To cut a long story short, I ended up at our minor injuries clinic, had my eyes washed, anti hyster thingies and sooo much pain. It has only been in the last half hour that the stinging has stopped and the swelling gone down enough to see properly. Now my eyes feel mega bruised and very tender..... Sounds like you have had a lovely day Sue. Mmmm hot dogs and icecream on the beach, how perfect . Photos of the new plants please . I am sure you will find them a home . Richard, the slugs and snails had all my runners almost as soon as I planted them out . Is Nicola carrying on with her cakes when she moves. You and Cheryl will really miss her. I will send you some sun tomorrow too Susiq

Hi there richard, lillyrose, susiq, sue1002, it looks like you are all well (see next paragraph lillyrose) and thank you for the lovely welcome back! Bare in mind of course that I do see some of your facebook updates... ;-) and I assume you see mine (unless you have "hidden" me of course!).
WTF did you touch in your garden lillyrose to cause an allergic reaction like that? Any ideas? Sounded most unpleasant! Please, please send me some sun as well my lovely.
I once gigged with the band in Westcliffe during our touring years 1989/95 sue1002 and I think we had an ice cream on the seafront. Sounds like YOU enjoyed your sunny day as well!!!
Actually susiq, the Sungold were the first to ripen and apparently they go on loger than some, huh, we'll see. (

OMG lillyrose, have you any idea at all what it was you touched to get that reaction? I'll take a pic of the new plants tomorrow, although the Hemerocallis lost some of its petals when I planted it with a pale orange one that I already have in the garden. I'll send you some of our sun tomorrow Roundelder, it's supposed to be hotter here tomorrow than it was today so I don't think we will be going far tomorrow!
