Morning all, it's cloudy and quite windy here with rain forecasted for later on.  It seems like we're getting alternating days between wet and dry lately.

Have a good day everyone and will catch up again after work.

Good Morning all. It is cloudy here today too Sue and looks like rain, so we have switched on our new clothes airer that arrived yesterday and it is now full of clothes drying indoors.

Hope the day goes well in work.Cheryl and her friend are going to the pictures this afternoon to see "Seeking a friend for the end of the World" with Ceira Knightley and Steve Carrell if you know who they are...I can't say that I do do  Embarrassed.  I will have a bit of peace and quiet  here WinkYes

    Hiya all,

Oooh corned beef hash Richard, I haven't had that for agesStick out tongue Enjoy your peace and quiet but pleast let me know what Cheryl thought of the film, hopefully it will make its way up to the sticks at some point! Is your new clothes airer one of those electric ones that are supposed to only cost a few pennies a day to run?

Sue, the plants I put in the lodge garden are juniper horizontalis and a creeping thyme, I just wanted something low maintenance that you can walk on that gives good ground cover in that particular area - we welcome dogs here!

Well I've have had a totally soul destroying day in the poly today - had to pull one of my giant cabbages, quite a few cauli's and a couple of our eating cabbages out - damn slugsSuper Angry What adds insult to injury is I've spent £60+ so far this year on nemaslugs, I'm SO upset about the slimy so and so's, so much for being organicTongue Tied

Crab salad for us tonight, even though its not over warm outside, we've had a few showers on and off.

Hi all, it was a nice busy day at work today.

I've not heard of a clothes airer you can switch on Richard.  I hung some washing out before I went to work as we weren't supposed to get any rain until this afternoon, and I was expecting it to get lovely and dry in the wind before the rain started but when OH got up, it was belting down so he had to bring it all in and dry it in the tumble drier.

That's a good idea to put it the low maintenance ground cover plants Susiq and the ones you've put in should give off a lovely smell if they do get walked on by the dogs.  If you've got a bit of room left there, those red Sedums you have on the top of your bunker should be ok there too, I put a couple of plants in an area that Sasha sometimes walks over and they're surviving pretty well.  Sorry to hear about your caulis and cabbages, those slimy gits certainly are being a real pain this year...

The clothes are drying well on the electric airer. We decided to get a three tier one as you can dry duvets and large sheets on it too. It wasn't cheap to buy but it costs less than 5p an hour to run so I think we will be getting our use out of it . Here is a link to it Sue.

Those slugs are a real pest aren't they Susiq we have plenty of them in our garden too. Cheryl enjoyed the film  a good story and they both enjoyed the music of the Hollies and Scott Walker  (though I know that you and I are much too young to remember those...Wink. ). I am just getting ready to go to church tonight for evensong . Only one friend is coming tonight as the other one is in South Devon with his family. They are all  probably getting well  rusty as we speak.Storm

Morning all, it's sunny and very windy here with more of the wet stuff on the way later...

That's a posh airer Richard but although you say it's not cheap, it is cheaper than buying a new tumble dryer, hope it did the job well.

Have a good day everyone and will catch up again after work.

Hi all, goodness me its a bit chillio here today!

Thanks for that idea about the sedums Sue, those ones you gave me are doing brilliantly, and I guess I can divide them up. It's going to take a couple of years I reckon for the juniper and thyme to spread as much as I need it too, and yes they do smell gorgeous!

Ooh that film sounds great Richard, ha ha and yes I do remember the Hollies and Scott Walker very well indeedWink Hope you enjoyed your evening out even if you were a person short!

Well I've been and bought myself some 'organic' slug pellets this morning! One of my lovely cauli's is for the pot tonight (only the green leaves were 'slugged') I'm doing a cauli and chick pea curry, mushroom bhaji and rice - sounds boring, but I've done the cauli one before (Angela Hartnett recipe) and it was delish!

Good afternoon all. We have just moved a few things around to make more room for the clothers airer as Cheryl does the ironing in the same room. We have been having trouble with our wireless router and it keeps losing our internet connection. They are sending me a free router now.Big SmileYes

We are having cauliflower today too Susiq, not one of our own though as I am not growing any. We are having roast chicken with cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and mange tout.Big Smile

Enjoy your home grown cauli Susiq, mine never got anywhere this year as the first lot damped off and the second lot got slugged virtually as soon as they were planted out.

Hope your new router works better for you Richard when it turns up.

That's me finished at work, I've now got a week offBig Smile so I hope the weather is going to be kind to us for next week so we can go out and about.

    HI all,

No sign of that yellow thing here SueTongue Tied Enjoy it while you can!

Our butcher does some lovely wild boar sausages Richard, they're really yummy.

Well I'm cleaning the lodge today as no guests here this week. The poppies over there look gorgeous, but I've decided once they 'go over' I'm going to plant a few cordylines and smother the rest of that area with bark chippings, to make it really low maintenance. It's hard to keep it up to scratch as I don't like invading peoples privacy when they are staying on their hols! So hopefully my new idea will work better?

We've not seen anything of the sun yet either Susiq. Those wild boar sausages sound tasty. I am hoping to go in the garden and get the benches and chairs cleaned this afternoon.  They will be ready then  to try out with our new cushions for when we get some of this elusive sun. Can you send some sun up north please Sue for Susiq and myselfWink

Which poppies do you have in the lodge garden Susiq?  If they are the red single flowered ones, you could let them self seed and add some cornflowers and corn marigolds for the area to look like a wildflower bed.  I've seen these together with a white flowered plant also but can't remember the name of it similar to a daisy but very much taller) on a bank over the park and when everything is in flower, it's quite a spectacular show.

I think our yellow thing in the sky must be on it's way up your way Richard, it's disappeared from here now and looking at the sky out there now, I think I'd better go and get the washing in before it gets wet again.

Well Sue I managed to get outside in the garden and got a bit done in the sunshine, but now it looks like it has gone for the day I think, and the sky has gone overcast...looks like rain again Storm.. I found a few slugs hiding in the GH under some pots so they have now taken residency in the grassy patch outside our front fence...  Snail Snail Snail

Nicola has just returned home she had a good time in Wales with her bf. and will be moving down there in September....She has some cake making to do tonight...Cake
