I have been enjoying the sunshine thanks Susiq, I've been out in the garden and did some weeding around the fruit trees as I'd forgotten those bits when I was out there weeding beforeWink  It doesn't look like we're going to get many apples at all this year - the tree was full of blossom in the spring but then along came some hard night frosts (so I'm blaming them), there can't be any more than about 20 apples in total on the treeSad

It's steak pie for us tonight which I'll do with some mash and peas.

Lillyrose is ok, she messaged me on FB yesterday, she's having trouble getting onto the RHS site.

Thanx for letting us know about LR, hope she gets it sorted soon! Good you managed to do around the fruit trees, apparently, they don't like competition round the base of the trunk!  I make you right about the frosts, our plum trees had loads of blossom, but sadly I can't see any signs of fruit forming this yearTongue Tied

Well my mam has developed a truly stinking cold, I just hope she is gonna keep it to herselfSurprise

Shame about the apples, Sue! It's the same here, but we didn't get many late frosts and I'd put it down to the rain keeping pollinators away. Our new apple tree has just one fruit forming.

Hope your mum's cold gets better quickly, Susiq. Summer colds are just last.

I've been sulking over another horsefly bite. No horrid infection, thankfully, but the wretched thing bit me on the cheek and half my face swelled up and I looked all lop-sided. Not keen on mirrors at the best of times, but this was going too far!Wink

Been potting up some dark purple Campanula glomerata that someone gave me. They said it will travel, but that's okay as long as it doesn't try to take over the world. It's really very pretty.

Hope your mum gets better soon Susiq and doesn't pass it on.  If I remember rightly, didn't she get one last year and both you and your OH went down with it as well?

I think you must be spot on with the rain keeping the pollinators away Miranda, I hadn't thought about that one!  It sounds like all of us will be going without fruit off the trees this year but on a good point, the blueberries here are swelling up nicely and will hopefully soon start ripening up.

Sorry to hear you've been bitten again Miranda but thankful that the bite isn't infected this time.  That Campanula looks lovely.

Lillyrose, I hope you're recovering now. Left Hug

Miranda, I love campanula glomerata. My Granny grew it. Although it spread a bit it didn't seem to take over.  I'm tempted to get myself a plant as it's such a pretty colour.

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

I did some roast beef for their dinners todayYes. I hope Lillyrose gets back on here soon..we miss her chat and her news about MooDog.

Sorry to hear you have been bitten again Miranda..you have been very unlucky. They must take a liking to you...is there an insect repellant that you can maybe dab on your clothes when you are out in the garden that keeps them away? I will have a look on google and thriftyfun to see if I can find any ideas. Lovely colour on your campanula.

Hi Phot's hope you had a good day today Smile

Morning all, it's lovely and sunny here today albeit a bit breezy and from the weather forecast, it looks like summer is making a return here this week.

Are you going to be eating all your strawberries Phot's or have you got enough to be making some jam with them?

Good luck going back to Aldis to see if they've got any more strawberry plants in Richard, you might find they've already goneWink

Hoorah Lillyrose, you're backParty!!! Oooh Happy Birthday to Sasha from me tooDog

I've just got back from the vet's they are keeping Portia in for more skin and blood tests, the poor little girl has not stopped scratching all weekend. At least once she's had the blood test, she can go back on the steroids and her skin will stop driving her mad with itchiness.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM yum yum were they your own strawberries Phot's?

Well done getting all yours planted Richard, hope you find some more in the shop.

Oh dear Miranda you poor thing, that cannot be at all pleasant with the bite being on your faceRight Hug

Hope you are right Sue about the weather getting better, its dull here, but at least its not raining again (shouldn't tempt fate I guess)! OH is helping me do some weeding today, think we've got about a month's worth of work on that frontTongue Tied

Thanks ladies, Sasha says 'woof' to her birthday messagesSmile  Yes, she's got a big hide bone that I gave her when we got back from our walk this morning but it's a bit hot for her to be chewing into it just yet.  I expect she will leave it until later before she has good go at it.

Glad you were able to get back onto the site lillyrose, has FF stopped mucking about for you or was it another problem?

Poor Portia Susiq, it must be really uncomfortable for her when she itches, let's hope you get a result from the testsRight Hug  Have fun with all that weedingWink

Hello everyone and happy woofday to Sasha!  GiftDog  Gosh Miranda, can't believe those darn horseflies got you again, what rotten luck! I don't panic easily but as soon as I hear or see hroseflies I start running for the hills, nasty pests. Are there any effective repellants you've tried?

I had some issues logging on IC too sis (*wave*) also using FF, the password wasn't recognised, changed it and that seemed to solve the issue.

Has the rain/flooding situation stabilised by now? I hope none of you were affected!  The water levels in the canals here have been really high as well, no unplanned flooding yet though. I guess we could all do with some sun and a couple of dry days!

The weekend here was a mixed bag: nice on the saturday, was out on the lotty to do a bit of weed management Smile and Sunday I had planned to do loads of indoor stuff as it was going to (and did) Storm all day. Ended up trying to learn to crochet and getting slightly obsessed with it all.  I've even signed up a 2 day tunisian crochet course.since I quite smoking last year (and 3 weeks) I really need to find something to keep my hands busy in the evenings. And no, doing the ironing is NOT an option. Wink

Just heard that I am needed in London for a couple of  days, unfortunately in the middle of the Olympics chaos, but that will make a visit to the Chelsea Physic Garden even more enjoyable.  If anyone wants to meet up on July 28 or 29 let me know!

Right, back to work for me now, will read through more of your posts later tonight and have a rummage through all the new pics on PB...
