Morning all, a sweltering hot day here yesterday too and even hotter temps forecast for today. I don't envy you Miranda; it's way too hot to be working outside, it's already 25 degrees now. There's no way I'm going to the lotty till after 7 or 8 pm today - and then only for a bit of watering. Hiya Sis, do you have one of those kiddy pools that you, GS and Dog can splash about in? Seems just the thing for today... Paradise

I'd wanted to come in again sooner but my best friend is getting married next week and there's so much to organise and go out and do that I haven't had a moment's time. We went to get her and her mum's dress yesterday, this afternoon we're off to get her bouquet (silk flowers) and I've got an appt at the hairdresser. I'd actually hoped the cold and rain would hang around a bit longer but it went  tropical the day my vacation started! How inconsiderate! Big Smile

Anyway, must rush, back tonight to catch up properly! CoffeeCake

    Keep cool! x

Have fun with GS today lillyrose, hope he doesn't have you running around too muchWink

It sounds like you have it hotter than us Eva, especially at the time you posted, it was 26°C when I was driving home from work.  A pool to splash about in would be lovely but it would take forever to fill one with a watering can and we are on a hosepipe ban here.  Hope you had fun choosing your friend's bouquet.

We have a hosepipe ban here too in Thames Water area, though there's a rumour that it will be lifted soon, maybe that's wishful thinking. Today gardening was too hot for comfort - my customers don't mind when I speed up because it's too cold, but the reverse isn't true! Planting out in the sun wasn't much fun. But I love these balmy evenings, sitting barefoot in the garden with the birdsong and a glass of wine.

Hiya all - sorry for not being around but have had a bit of a hellish week one way and another, will catch up properly with the posts (I've only just skimmed them quickly) to see what mischief you've all been up to!

Have just got back from a funeral, but it was (thankfully) a very 'uplifting' one.

Wonderful to see the lovely Eva is back amongst usBig Smile Can't believe a whole year has gone by since we met up with Sue at Chelsea - also wished we could have done it again this year - I haven't even seen any of it tele this yearSad

Portia has been 'in the wars' too and may have to have an op - what a bloody week! Sorry guys to be a 'moaning minnie'! At least we've had tons of the yellow stuff up here too for once!

Hope your customers are keeping you in nice cold drinks Alex.  If your hosepipe ban gets lifted soon, that will be good, the last I heard for this area is that the earliest it would probably be lifted is January.  I've used more than half the water out of both our waterbutts and as there isn't any rain forecasted in the near future, I best save what I've got left in there for the blueberry plants.

Sorry to hear things haven't been going too well for you lately Susiq, what's the op that Portia may be having?

Well done getting lots of gardening done Phot's, I'm sure you'll get to catch up on the lottie pretty soonSmile

Same here, Alex - I was out in it all day yesterday too and felt a bit cooked by the end of it. Got the same again today and on Saturday. Customers are generous with the lemon barley water, though Smile

Nice to see you back, Eva!

Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, Susiq - hope Portia is okay and that things settle down for you.

Right, another day of mainly weeding beckons. Hope everyone has a good one!

Morning all, it's another hot one here but the wind is supposed to pick up later so that will help cool things down quite a bitSmile

That's good your customers are generous with the drinks MirandaYes and hope you get a bit of wind to help cool you down today too.

I'm off into town shortly and will hopefully be able to spend some time in the garden today.

    Sorry for the W A F F L E Embarrassed :-

Good day all. I don't know what happenend to yesterday Sue I didn't even have time to log on. I spent the whole day in the garden mainly pruning tidying and packing things away in the shed it was a scorcher of a day yesterday, and so is today. Like your day Eva I suppose too hot for gardening but I must get out there...there is plenty to do.Smile

I was planning to do some more gardening today too Phot's but this morning our freezer packed upSurprise. I think it must have overheated, the fuse is ok and lights are on. I guess its time for a new one it has lasted over 35years so can't grumble. We have plenty of things to cook now as they had started to thaw..including 2 chickens, pork chops, lamb burgers and turkey pieces. It gave me a good chance to have a clearout of things and now I am looking for another freezer.Geeked

Keep taking the fluids MirandaWink, we all have a good excuse now especially in this weather. I am going outside tonight to sit under the gazzebo with a glass of something too Alexs. I was pleased yesterday with my tidying up as I found a pair of pruners and all the bits and pieces to fit on the end of  the hosepipe.Yes

We were planning a BBQ tomorrow lillyrose, which is just as well with all that we have to cook now. Hope you enjoyed your day with your GS yesterday.Person

Glad you have had some good weather with you too Susiq, sorry to hear that Portia needs an op though, hoping all will go well.Dog

Nicola has been baking the last two days she has a wedding cake and cup cakes to make for Saturday and must decorate them too so the kitchen is very warm...Cake

It sounds like you had a lovely busy day yesterday Richard.  That's a shame about your freezer packing up, it's certainly done very well to last 35+ years.  Mind you, the new ones these days are much more energy efficient than they used to be back then so you'll find you won't be spending so much on electric to run itWink

I've been sitting in the garden this afternoon, it was lovely just sitting there watching and listening to the birds and not doing anything else.  The wind is a bit keen out there today so it has kept the edge off the heat of the sun.

     Evening all.

I seem to be having the same trouble as you Richard, the last couple of days have gone by so quick I haven't had time to catch my breath.

Sorry you have been having a bad time SusiqRight Hug. Hope it is nothing too serious with Portia.

I did have a lovely day with GS thanx Richard but must admit I was glad when the time came to drop him home again, I was knackeredTongue Tied. Before I forget, my blue peas are doing very well and growing fastYes, the Hestia beans are a bit slow but now the weather has warmed up they should start to get going. You have had a good run with your freezerSmile. Have you taken any pics of Nicola's cakes, not seen any for a whileWink, hint hint.

I hope your arm is better now Miranda and I hope you remember sun block in this sun.

It has been breezy here today too Sue which made it a pleasure to be outside. I didn't notice many bargains in Sainsburys this morning as I whizzed round and did a small shop in record time. Did notice Muller corner multi packs are BOGOF though.

We had a cold tea tonight, roast chicken and salad and crusty rolls

How much did freezers cost 35 years ago Richard? Whatever it was, good value for money! I can't imagine one bought today would last that long.// I'm saving the water in the water butt for two things: any house/conservatory plants which aren't pelargoniums (they don't seem to mind hard water at all), and the pond with tadpoles in. Anything else will have to make do with tap. But it's a lot of running up and down with one watering can while the other's filling up.//Even in weather like this I find a cup of tea as refreshing as anything - although lemon barley sounds very appealing, it's years since I had any, think that will have to go on the shopping list!

Snap! Our freezer packed up too. Wasn't very old though. Luckily there wasn't much in it.

Hasn't the weather been great? I'll be working the weekend but not too disappointed as I had lovely weather for my days off. Hope it stays nice for those who will be able to get out in their gardens.

Morning all, it's another hot one here today with a lovely stiff breeze to help cool things down a bit, it would be nice if the wind picked up just that bit more as it would make it nice and comfortable for me to do some weeding in the front garden.

I know what you mean about running up and down with watering cans Alex, while the other one is refilling.  I find I can empty a can on the windowboxes and hanging baskets near the house in nice time for when the other can is filled, but when I'm using the can up the garden, I have to move that bit quicker so I can get back to the one refilling before it overflows.

Hope you don't have to work hard Phot's, although I bet you're looking forward to your next days off alreadySmile

Hiya everyone - phewee another scorcher heyBig SmileCoolFor once it seems all of us have good weather all at the same time - bring it on!

Shame about your freezers Phot's and Richard, but Richard, I think you've definately had a good run for your money - that is annoying though about the amount of food you'll have to get cooked 'quick-sharp'.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone - Portia has knacked her back knee (probably chasing the postman like a lunatic - but on our side of the fence though) She's on anti inflamatories and painkiller, so its fingers and toes crossed it does actually heal up within the next 7 days.

Yes Sue and Alex, the watering can work is tiresome isn't it! Sounds like you have got your timings perfect though SueYes

Looks like you are getting enough exercise Lillyrose with GS in tow! How lovely though to be out and about in nice weather for a change.

I'm in total empathy with you Miranda, I've been bitten to pieces by god knows what on my back (10 bites) - not nearly as bad as your horsefly bite, but good grief, the itchiness is driving me nuts! My hairbrush has been coming in handy I have to sayWink

Well I'm doing Rick Stein's chinese belly pork with some pak choi from the poly tonight.
