Good day all. That was a good win Sue, well doneParty!!! you will be busy now sowing seedsSmile. I have been keeping up with a post for a while now from igrowveg and it recommends growing nasturtiums with vegetables. I did this last year and I think it saved a lot of blackfly from my runner beans.Wink

You and your mum did well in Sainsbury's lillyrose. Cheryl and Nicola have been shopping too this morning, and Dave (son) went into Leicester on the bus. This morning as the weather was fine I put the bean sticks in, planted my runner beans out under glass, I sowed some courgette seeds, more runner bean seeds, transplanted some viscaria which I am trying for the first time. I also sowed some Hestia runner bean seeds too.

Well Susiq I had a peaceful morning in the garden. I saw plenty of snails out there too. slapping their chops to see what they could eat. We are making some beefburgers for tonight with a salad. Hope all goes well with your guests and your new place.Yes

Thanks for the offer details lillyrose, I'll certainly be making use of some of thoseSmile  The dog treats were on offer last week too and I picked up a box of the Dentastix for Sasha.  I know she doesn't need any more yet but I'll get another box tomorrow and take advantage of the offerWink

Yes, I'll certainly be busy with a bit more seed sowing now thanks, I'm going to save the tomato and chillies to sow next year as I've already got plenty of those on the go.

Thanks for the link there with the Nasturtiums Richard.  I sowed some of those in one of the veg beds last weekend and when I looked in there today, lots of the peas I'd sowed have come through and that includes the blue ones you sent meSmile  I find the Nasturtiums attract more butterflies than aphids so I always keep the plants away from the brassica bed just in case the caterpillars decide to go for a walk/feed.

I got the lawn cut this afternoon and it looks so much better now it's all the same length again. I know all the rain we've had recently had helped it to grow, I just hope it hasn't made the weeds grow just as fast, I didn't get round to checking that bit out...

So glad the blue peas have germinated now Sue, I still haven't sown mine yet. I did get back out in the garden and planted some pansy seedlings I had in the GH into the windowbox on the shed, and the windowbox by the front door. You will be pleased that you cut your lawn  now Sue, that's another job ticked off the list.Yes

Nicola is busy in the kitchen as I write baking a couple of birthday cakes. She said thank you for your comments lillyrose. Big Smile

Morning all, it's very much the same here lillyrose although it is warmer out there now than it was when I took Sasha out.  Yes, I did well with the bargains, Sasha has another couple of boxes of Dentastixs so she will be ok for those for the next couple of monthsWink

Hope everyone else is having the good weather too, I'm going to potter about in the garden today.

Woweeeee Sue what a fantastic winBig Smile I'm so pleased someone we know actually did win something - that will keep you out of trouble for a whileWink

You did well with all your sowing Richard, and yes thanks everything went well at the new place, except my exhaust blew on the way! Fortunately only a mile from the village, so I drove it straight into the little garage there, and he has done a temp weldering job for now - more expense I guess for a new exhaustAngry

You did well too Lillyrose, with all those bargains, I still haven't got out to get some JR's!

Had a very frustrating time yesterday trying to get on line, after nearly 2 hours with the Orange call centre last night, it still wasn't workingSuper Angry Turned everything off at the mains overnight and for some bizarre reason its ok now thank goodness!

Thanks Susiq, and yes, the seeds will keep me out of trouble for a whileWink  Does anyone want any of the pumpkin seeds? - if so just shout as there are over 30 in the packet and I will only be using a couple of the seeds myself and from the date on the packet, they need to be sown this year.

Glad everything went ok for you at the new place but bad luck with the exhaust and not being able to get any JRs yet.  Just to rub it in, I got some more todayWink and we will have those tonight with some pork shanks in a peppercorn sauce that I bought and thought I'd try out.

Hi all and glad you are back online again Susiq,Big Smile I would be lost without my internet connection. There is always something needs doing when you have a car isn't thereSad, hope you can get the exhaust renewed ok.

Well done again with the bargains lillyrose, and hope you have a god time in the garden. I have been in the garden and potted up some white lupins I had growing from seeds that  Eva sent me. I also potted up some dwarf sunflowers and repotted some lavender, sage and mint.Surprise

You did well with the buys too Sue, hope you have a good time in the garden also. I  sowed my blue peas this morning in the GH in pots. Here is some info about them, I remember the flowers on them  last year looking stunning.Wink

Sausage and mash tonight!! I won't be having any though as I will be out for 'candlemass' Wink

OK OK Sue, rub it in re the JR'sWink Enjoy your dinner tonight, have to admit, I've never seen pork shanks before, OH just realised, we call 'em ham shanks up here, which we normally make a broth from - tender as anything, bet you really enjoy it allStick out tongue

Thanks for that link Richard, I will be sowing mine on Monday, am planning to have a HUGE catch up then. Hope you have a nice time at 'candlemass'Wink

Ditto Sue to Lillyrose's request re the seeds pleaseAngel (that's a pretty please!) I've never yet been successful up here with pumkins or squash, so would love to give it another go.

Calves liver and onions for us tonight - I'm trying a venetian recipe I found on line today.

Yes RIchard, where the hell would we be without our connectivity? Have to admit, I was in MAJOR panic mode last night as the 'dipstick' at the call centre told me there was a real problem with our actual pc - thankfully as it turns out, that wasn't the case, but it does make me wonder if it's worth investing in a laptop as some kind of 'back up'?!?!? It's not until you are without it, that you realise just how much we all depend on itTongue Tied

Morning all, sunny and warm here today and looks like it's going to be a lovely day.  I think we will take Sasha down to the beach for a swim, she will love thatSmile

That's very nice of you to save Susiq some JRs lillyrose, ours didn't last long at all with the pork shanks in peppercorn sauce (£3 for two frozen in a pack in Sainsburys) and they were gorgeous.  It makes a change to try something new here and everyone liked it!  I'll post the pumpkin seeds off to you both tomorrow.

Hope everyone else has the lovely weather today too.

We had a lovely time out with Sasha this morning thanks lillyrose.  We took her for her swim and then walked around the market and had the walk back along the beach to get back to the car.  Sasha is tired out and currently zonked out on one of the sofas but at least she's dry nowSmile

I've been out in the garden this afternoon making the most of this lovely weather as the rain is supposed to come back again tomorrow.  I've moved the spud buckets out of the greenhouse as there were loads of ants crawling all over the buckets so I took those out, gave them a good watering to try and drown them out and then had to boil a few kettles of water to tip over the greenhouse floor to kill all the ants that were left in there.  I've had a lot of the plants outside today and have made some room in there so I can plant some tomatoes into their final positions tomorrow.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to the beach Sue and SashaSmile. Did you buy anything in the market Sue.

I have spent most of the day in the garden too, I have planted out my tomatoes and hung up the hanging basket ones and planted out some more baby lettuce plants. I put the canes in for the runner beans ready for when they grow. My spuds have been outside for a couple of weeks now and they are towering above the tops of the bags and pots I am growing them in.

Hope you have managed to kill off all the antsSurprise
