Morning all, it's nice and sunny here with a little nip in the air but that won't stop me getting out into the garden today and hopefully be able to finish the weeding that I started last week.

Yes thanks Susiq, we had a lovely time yesterday and all my baking got eatenYes  Well done on winning one of the raffle prizes and at least you didn't finish last in the quizWink

You sound like you're doing ok with your virtual tomatoes Richard, I'm still waiting for my seeds to turn up, I reckon they must have got lost in the post... and talking of tomato seeds, remember those Lizzano seeds I sowed with all the other tomato seeds around the middle of March? - well not one of those have germinated and neither have some other seeds from the same supplier, and other seeds from the same supplier are not growing as well as they should be, methinks it's maybe time for a letter of complaint to be done, is anyone else having trouble with Suttons seeds?

Good Morning all! a sunny one here too today SueBig Smile but seems quite nippy, hope you manage to get done what you want today in the garden. I sowed some more runner beans yesterday in cardboard tubes, the other ones I sowed a few weeks ago are a few inches high now. I am not as well organised as you and I put a label in the pot of what I am growing eg 'runner beans', 'tomatoes' so not sure who supplied them (usually Aldi or Wilkos as they are much cheaper  thereWink and they seem to germinate well too.Yes)

Don't forget to water your 'Dolmio's' Susiq Wink- I am on my third run through as you can do it again, after you finished your 5 days, and may win something! Well done on the raffle prize-what did you win ?Confused

Hope you are feeling better now lillyroseRight Hug..I am doing roast chicken for them today for Sunday lunch with the usual trimmings! Yesterday I sorted out our pan drawer in the kitchen and took out a few old pans that we never use, so they found their way in my shed until I can think of another use for them (the old frying pan may be a bird bath...lolWink )

Snap Richard, I sowed my runner beans in cardboard tubes too.  Those marigolds should look good when they get to flowering, I've grown some African ones before and they do seem to be more drought tolerant than some of the smaller varieties.

Using the old frying pan as a bird bath sounds like a really good idea, although if you've nicked the frying pan, I hope you've left Cheryl with the rolling pinWinkDevil

It stayed nice and sunny here until early afternoon, I had almost finished weeding the back garden when the heavens opened and we had thunder and lightning with it.  It's roast beef for us today and it's smelling gorgeousStick out tongue

    Hi all,

Enjoy that lovely smelling roast beef SueStick out tongue Have to say, Sutton's is probably one of the only suppliers I don't use! Yes, you should most definately make a formal complaint, especially as its more than one pack/variety of seeds that haven't come through - as they say up North "shy bairns get nowt"! In otherwords, say something!

That was my 5 days on the virtual toms up today Richard, I didn't start again, as I know being as we've such a busy week this week, I would definately forget! The raffle prize was some 'smellies' that we gave to my mam. That's a good idea about using the frying pan as a birdbath, being as it will be shallow enough - waste not want not! I got a lovely new peanut feeder the other day, to go on a stand that OH rescued from the new cottage and repainted for here. Will post a pic soon.

Well have to say I am beginning to 'obsess' about my leeksEmbarrassed I have definately 'got the bug' even though I really don't know if I'm doing right or wrongConfused

I hope you get to grow some whopping leeks SusiqYes. I  am sure you will know about all growing them but I found this page which looks good -  mind you I didn't know it was recommended that you plant them in a different position the following year:-

haha yes Sue I left the rolling pins in the drawer,Big Smile though Cheryl has a glass one and a wooden one and Nicola has a range of about six sizes ranging from small to full size for rolling out her fondant and pastry. Your roast beef sounds good Sue, I am sure that the lads there will soon polish that off! WinkGlad you managed to get the weeding done..Wilted Flower

Morning all, the sun and the wind are both out here at the moment with more rain forecasted for later on.

I'm sure you will do well with your leeks Susiq and you should get quite a few to eat too once the show is overSmile

Glad you left Cheryl with the rolling pins RichardWink  I've seen wooden ones, plastic ones and marble ones but I didn't know glass ones existed.

The roast beef went down very well yesterday, there was enough to feed us all for one meal and the small amount that was left over went in Sasha's bowl, well I couldn't leave her out could I?Wink

I'm hoping to get that last bit of weeding done in the back garden this morning.

    Hi everyone

    Damp and miserable hereSad

Thanks for that link Richard, I read it through, and its amazing how different it is to grow leeks for the veg plot, compared to growing them for showing!

Ha ha of course you couldn't leave Sasha out Sue - I have to divide our meat left overs between P&P, but any left over veg goes to the chix, they've got into the habit of tapping on the back door with their beaks if they think there is food on the goSmile Hope you get your weeding finished, its too wet here for any outside work today.

Still I've got plenty of cleaning to do this week. Oh and I've got the dentist on Thursday - yet another absess last week, AGONY! I've finished the antibiotics, so I've got fingers and toes crossed that I won't have to have root canal treatmentSurprise

     Morning all,Big Smile

Haha although I am a welshman Susiq I didn't know there was any difference in growing leeks for showing and growing them for the veg plotEmbarrassed . Sorry to hear about your abscess...sounds painful but hopefully it has gone now.  ..I picked my virtual tomatoes today !

Glad you all enjoyed the beef Sue. Hope you managed to finish your weeding. It is a lovely sunny day here so I have been in the garden watering the GH and checking on the seedlings, they seem to be doing OK. I also sowed a few more tomato seeds.Smile

I sent away for some free seeds that are on offer here, Winktwo places, Mr Fothergills and The Borrowers ..the Telegraph ones have all gone...boo hoo Sad

Awww Susiq, that's sweet with the chix tapping on the glass when they know food about.  Hope the antibiotics have done their job and cleared everything up and good luck with the dentist on Thursday.  Was it the last time I had a gum infection when you had an abscess too? my checkup appointment is on Friday and whilst the infection cleared up, I still have the odd day here and there when I think it's come back and I've noticed that another two of my teeth are starting to come looseSurprise  Depending on how brave I'm feeling when I go on Friday, I might ask what the possibility is in having the whole lot removed, I'd never suffer again would I?Wink

It sounds like we've got the same weather Richard, it's been lovely here all morning and I've finished off the weeding in the back garden.  I also sowed a row each of beetroot and radishes and sown some peas too.  It looks like I've come in at the right time as it's now starting to cloud over.

It seems like everyone is off to the dentist this week as Cheryl is going on Thursday too for her three mothly check up. The dentist suggested I go every three months too but I think every six months is enough!Wink

Sorry to hear you are still not feeling well lillyrose..take care my friend and make sure you get plenty of pampering from your OH Yes

A gardening friend has put up this picture of her collie dog, Conker, in her front garden I suggested she framed it and looked at it in the bleak months of winter for some cheer... Big Smile

Hope you're starting to feel better very soon lillyroseRight Hug

I don't blame you for thinking every six months is enough to be going for a check up Richard, our dentist used to be six months but they've now changed it to every 10 months.  The collie in your friend's picture is gorgeous, and that's a very beautiful garden too.

Hi all been a while again, I put a picture of Zeus the latest arrival, I too am sorry for your illness lilyrose.

Anyway I shall quick give an update of recent occurences,my garden here is a tiswas totally awful flags, flags ane more flags, so I've lost the desire to do much to it. That aside other things have not been going well either, I am not looking for sympathy or pity or anything for that matter I am just puttiong my circumstances forward so you will know my next disappearance., Myself and the OH have not spent much time together for a long while and when we are with each other we are not as happy, so we've decided to call it a day, my youngest is now settled in his new school and he is happy, as many will have guessed I am going back to Eire to stay, not going back there to die but to get better, I will get web net access when I get back there and sign into the forum once I'm sorted. The garden there is very nice but then it's not maintained by me!!Smile.

I am not at all miserable and I am quite happy and am looking forward to going home for good. I shall hang about here till the end of the week and then I'm offski. Everybody have fun and keep the forum going the way you have been doing, I am so looking forward to going back hopefully I'll hook up to the web once I'm sorted.bye for now my friends
