Afternoon all!. Good news Sue that things are moving now and you have a few plants coming up in your greenhouse.Smile

Not a bad day here lillyrose, no rain anyway, and  not a bit cold so I have made a start in emptying the greenhouse ready to clean it out and disinfect it. Then I will sow some more seeds in trays in there.Yes

Hope you manage to find the net curtains that you want today Susiq. Our son Dave just heard that he won first prize in a rugby competition, a crate of Guinness. He won the first prize in the same competition two years ago and  that was a crate of Guinness also, and we have just about finished that now so it has come at the right time. Cheryl had a bottle of wine come today too through the post  - she has just won that in a competition. They seem to be always winning things!Wink

Good afternoon my fellow gardenersBig Smile.

Well it has stayed cloudy and chilly here so the only gardening I have done is move some of the pots out the propagator and sow some more seeds.

Made the most of being indoors in the warm and washed all the windows and nets.

Did you manage to get your nets Susiq. Is Percy still in the dog houseWink

Sounds like you have been busy in the GH RichardSmile. Well done to Cheryl and Dave on their wins. I have never come across anyone as lucky as your Dave with competitions.

What you been up to today Sue

Hello admin and one and all. As a new member am not sure of protocol. Does one reply to a helpful post? What are the blobs under the user name? What is the box with stars in for?

How do I just write a new post?

Sounds like there's going to be some celebrating going on with those wins Richard, I'm sure you will help sample themWink

You've been busy today lillyrose, I've done three loads of washing today, hoovered throughout, made some plain buns and then sat on my backside until it was time to get dinner started, we had roasted chicken legs with mashed potato and cheesy coleslaw.

Hi little weed and welcomeSmile.  If you wish to reply to any of the posts, please feel free to do so, it's what the forums are for.  The little blobs under the user name show that the user is currently logged in.  The box with the stars is where people can rate threads if they wish to.

To write a new post, just go to the relevant forum and at the top is a brown box which says "Write a New Post", click on that and you can compose your post.

Thank you Sue. Getting around the site is becoming  clearer . Think once I'm more confident I'll use the Forums quite a bit. Didn't want to appear rude to folk who've taken the trouble to answer my queries.

     Hi Little Weed.

Replying to helpful posts is usual. Just 'thanks' is fine if you don't have more to add.

With this thread we just chat - I'm rubbish at keeping up with it though!

Richard - congrats to Cheryl and Dave - hope they don't try making a cocktail Ick!

Morning all, it's a little warmer here today and quite overcast.

Little weed, I think I may have answered one of your questions wrong - I had read your question about the blobs and thought you might have been talking about the people icon, which is to show the user is currently logged in.  It has just dawned on me that you might have been asking about the row of little boxes, if it was about them, then when you hovver your mouse over the row of boxes, it gives the user's ranking ie a top ten contributor, top 50 etc.

I'm hoping to have some more seeds germinated today and be able to sow some more.

Hi everyone and a beautiful sunny day it is - my mam is actually sitting reading her paper in the garden!

Great Lillyrose, looks like you are going to have a load of chillies tooYes No, I didn't manage to get any nets, complete waste of time and petrolSad I came home and ended up ordering them made to measure on line! Ha ha, Percy is fine now, but he is (thankfully) sticking close to the kitchen doors when he's in the garden!

Well done to Dave and Cheryl Richard, I remember when Dave won that crate of guiness the last time, can't believe that was 2 years agoSurprise yes, I need to get the discinfectant out too.

Sue, thats great some of your tree toms are on the way, I'm really interested to see how they progress. Oh the nets were for the cottage, not for the garden. We had chicken last night too. My mam is having the rest of it tonight with a salad, we are off out to the flicks to see The Iron Lady.

That's great with your chillies lillyrose, I'm sure others will very soon followSmile  I had another one of the tree tomatoes come up so thats three out of the six seeds I sowed up so far.

Another day of the north/south divide I think Susiq, with you having all the sun as it was quite cloudy here all day.  That's a shame not being able to find any nets but at least you were able to find some online.

I was able to make enough room in the propagator to squeeze in a tray each of Petunias and busy lizzies.  Then I pricked out the caulis and planted up another bucket of early spuds.

     Hi all,

It has been cloudy here all day too Sue and not as warm as it seemed first thing.

I went shopping with a friend this morning then we went for lunch so all in all it has been a very lazy day for me todaySmile.

I am really looking forward to hearing how your tree tomatoes do Sue and seeing some pics of them too. The toms I took out the propagator the other day are coming along a treat in the GHYes.

Glad Percy is staying close by Susiq, seems like he did scare himself.

    No Richard today

The talk of germinating seeds has made me want to sow some - but I'm away for almost all of April so I don't think it's a good idea. Hopefully things will catch up from the late start?

btw, the new fence (next door's) is up and looks very smart. There doesn't seem to have been too much disruption to our garden so hopefully most plants will recover (I cut many right down to the ground in cluding clematis and ivy)

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

Morning all, it's warmish and a little drizzly outside here this morning.

It sounds like you had the ideal day yesterday lillyroseSmile

Are you off anywhere nice in April Phot's?  You should be able to catch up on a lot of late sown seeds or failing that, there should be some things available in the garden centres which would be almost ready to plant out.  It's good to hear you didn't get too much disruption with the fence being replaced.

Is it just my copy that might have gone astray or has anyone else not had their March issue of "The Garden" yet? as I usually get mine around the third week of the month.

Have a good day everyone and will catch up after work.

Good morning all, well thanks for missing me yesterday lillyrose I didn't manage to log into the chat at all. We went shopping in the morning then in the afternoon I went in the garden to do some more tidying and I need to get back out there again today. In the evening I was answering emails and catching up on other sites. Sounds as though you had a good day yesterday with your friend, lunch and a lazy afternoon.Big Smile

I am sure your clematis and ivy will grow back again Phot's.Smile

Have a good day in work Sue, I am sure there will be plenty to do there today and you will need your sarnie to keep your strength up!Wink

Glad your mum could get outside yesterday Susiq and enjoy the fine weather. I am just going out to disinfect the GH now its fine here. Hope you enjoyed the 'Iron Lady' Cheryl wanted to see that with her friend but her friend wasn't too keen. They are going to see something this afternoon as its 'orange Wednesday' and they get a good deal there.Big SmileYes
