  Reply | Contact  Thanks lillyrose, I'll make a start in the morning filling up the greenhouse and first in will be all the chilli plants I'll be making lots of apple pies too when my apples are ready, I bought some pie cases the other day ready for them. You have lots of stunning pictures on your flickr account CDfolia, I love the one of the red shield bug, never seen that colour one before but I've come across quite a few of the green ones here. sue1002

  Reply | Contact  So glad that you found the info useful CDfolia. I use Photobucket mainly for my pics. Wow your greenhouse looks just the job Sue and the recycled bench is such a good idea too. Nicola says thanks for your kind thoughts on her rabbit Sue. Do you mind if I pop around to try out your apple pies when you have made them lillyrose, I think you need an official taster . Well spotted with seeing a dragonfly in the garden. We have a lot of large spiders in ours and when you go out there you get a face full of cobwebs if you are not careful! -Richard

We have got lots of spiders in the garden too. Well one lot of washing is on the line and there is another load in the machine and I don't intend to spend long doing house work, going to make the most of the sun. Have fun in your new GH Sue and hope everyone else has a nice day x

  Reply | Contact  Morning all, it's warm and cloudy here with the sun trying to get through. Thanks Richard  Hope Nicola is ok this morning.  We have lots of spiders in the garden too and quite often when I go out of the back door first thing in the morning, I end up walking into a web that has been made across the doorway during the night, how's that for instant hairspray  Snap lillyrose, I've just put out a line full of whites and have the bedding in the machine but that's all the housework I will be doing today apart from cooking the dinner later.  I'm going to start filling up the greenhouse sue1002

  Reply | Contact I see my comment made it through moderation, but still no photo based on copying my Flickr image but I just twigged that the tree icon on these posts is for pictures (honestly, my brain was switched off yesterday) so I'm going to have another go now and if it still doesn't work I'll follow the lead of the rest of you and get a load of washing hung out in the huge wind while there is some sun around. This time I'll try Scabious 'Black Cat' which is at it's best this week:

  Reply | Contact  Good Morning all. That's a lovely pic of scabious Black Cat CDfolia on your Flickr site. It is sunny here today too and I think quite warm but I have not been out yet. That's a good idea to make the most of the sun lillyrose. I have three painting jobs in the front garden to do. The wooden table and chairs, the front fence and the gable end of the house, so I am hoping to get those done this week. Well that's the plan anyway... Yes Nicola seems OK this morning Sue thanks. I am sure that you will be having fun today in your new GH Sue. It should be warm in there in all this sun. Take it easy and don't overdo it -Richard

I joined together some long tubes and put an elbow on the one end and attched my brush to it so I could paint a good bit without getting on the ladder. Here is a pic of the tool I made:- I am also adding a pic of Nicola's trike before and after it had been done up.      -Richard

  Reply | Contact  Sue, that is one impressive greenhouse! That extra headroom will be great and presumably helps the temperatures be more balanced. I love that you made a table form the packing crate.  I should send my plants to you for a holiday. Had lots in my coldframe until the gales last week smashed it to pieces, poor things, so sad to see them all snapped in half, and so annoying because they were all ready to be planted out 2 weeks ago, I was just waiting for the bad winds to subside.Oh theunfortunate irony.  Enjoy your new space, I bet it will be a lively place to be next Spring.

  Reply | Contact  Well done getting started with the painting Richard, one job half done and a few more to go  and wow, what a transformation with Nicola's trike, the person who has done that has done an excellent job That's bad luck with the heavy winds you had CDfolia, were all the plants that got damaged ones you had grown from seed? The extra headroom with the new greenhouse is indeed a bonus, I can stand up in it now a lot more comfortably than I could before, and if I stand on tiptoes, I can only just about reach the top of the roof with my fingertips.  This one should also be better regulating temperature too as I now have a door, two louvre vents and two automatic roof windows whereas before all I had was one window in the opposite end to the doors so hopefully my days of the tomatoes developing botrytis should be over Thanks lillyrose, I've only got 88 days to get eveything done then.   I've got the greenhouse how I want it for now, we made up the staging racks and some of the chilli plants are now making use of those the other chilli plants, the pepper plants and the fig tree are all standing on the floor. I also did a bit of weeding in the veg beds, tidied up my shed and washed a few pots out and now I'm putting my feet up for the rest of the evening. sue1002

  Reply | Contact  Sue- yes, nearly all grown from seed or cuttings. I was especially sad about several Wallflower Bowles Mauve cuttings that I'd managed to get really thick and bushy, and lots of lavenders for a low hedge. I saved some bits for fresh cuttings so all is not lost. Still, I was counting my blessings because I made a rare purchase (very much a low budget gardener)- I ordered several heuchera plugs because I'm bessoted witht eh colours on offer, and if they hadn't been 2 weeks late arriving they'd have been in the cold frame after potting on and got wrecked. I'm babying them in the kitchen now - not very practical but there's no way they are going out until I can adequetly protect them.

  Reply | Contact  Well CDfolia I can see that you are looking after your heuchera plug plants well keeping them indoors. It is so much easier to keep an eye on them then . I bring in my houseplants inside  in the winter and they have a holiday outside every summer. Nicola is pleased with her bike Sue, She brought home some more bread and bread rolls today from college so they will go down well. Hoping that tomorrow will be a good day too lillyrose. I have some more painting to do and we are also going shopping in the morning as usual. Goodnight one and all  x -Richard

  Reply | Contact  Morning all, another sunny one here. Richard, your post wasn't there when I posted yesterday evening, it must have been in moderation. Nicola's trike looks lovely now it has been done up.  I liked your painting tool too, just the job. I could do with something like that for painting the stair well when I decorate the hall. I remembered last night that we have got a brand new 'paint pod' sitting in the spare room. B&Q were giving them away last year. That would have made the painting I have just done alot quicker and easier.  Hope you have a good shop Richard. I am sure Sue will be out in the garden same as me. Well have a nice day, whatever you all get up to x
