Glad today went ok Susiq, what is a 'humanist service'Embarrassed. I grew Bacopa for the first time last year after seeing Sue's baskets and must admit it is now a must have in the garden. I have just counted 26 buds on my Dahlia Gabriella, it has grown into a huge plant. How is your one doing Susiq, I don't think the flower colour is a good match to the picture on the packet but it is still a stunner and the flowers are huge. LOL, I think I Moo and I will both be having white fingers tomorrow Richard, or fingers and pawsBig Smile. I am itching to get started but have to keep telling myself to wait till the morning. Yes Susiq I am still walking to town and I don't miss my car one bit, I love the slower pace of the local shops and most shops here deliver free of charge if you spend over £20 (easy for me to doWink).Doing jacket spuds for dinner tonight with cheese and beansStick out tongue, then it's slob on the sofa with all my soapsSmile

Lovely pics lillyrose, your Bacopa is doing really well and so is that Hydrangea I can see in the second photo, I'm still waiting for my Hydrangea to come into flower.

Glad the service went ok today Susiq.  Yes, I had known for a little while that my eyesight had changed but it's one of those things that I thought could wait, my next checkup appointment wasn't actually due until the end of this year.  It's odd though that one eye is more short sighted than it was last time (which is to be expected anyway) but the other is less short sighted than before.

I'm certainly keeping an eye on those lily beetles Richard, I squashed two today, they were caught on one of the plants where it looks like the first flowers could open up either tomorrow or the next day.

We crossed lillyroseSmile  A humanist service is a non-religious one.

Your Gabriella Dahlia will look absolutely stunning if all those buds open up together.

Hi everyone, wish we had your sunshine Sue, we've had some monsoon-like showers off and on all day!

I just  went out inbetween showers to check Lillyrose, one of the dahlia's you sent has 8 buds and the other has 6 so far, but I think mine are well behind yours, so hope more will appear - they are getting quite tall and bushy thoughBig Smile Crikey, don't mention paint on pawsSurprise That's the last thing you need all over the floors! Well done for sticking to your guns re the walking Yes Sue was right about the humanist service, the accent is on a 'celebration' of someones life, talking about happy memories (usually supplied by the immediate family) of the person, they include a few minutes silence for people if they want to pray to whatever they believe in.

I don't blame Cheryl about the sighing whilst ironing Richard, it's the one chore I absolutely hate, thankfully my mam actually enjoys it!

New guests safely ensconced in the lodge, so am off to rustle up some dinner. I've got cauliflowers coming out of my ears, (no pun intended!) I've decided to blanch and freeze them in florettes, to use up as and when.  Sounds mean, but I am loathe to just give them awayEmbarrassed

Hope you are OK too EvaRight Hug We miss your darkly, sparkly humourWink

I don't blame you for not wanting to give away any of your caulis Susiq, the freezer sounds the perfect place for the surplus ones.  I dug up some potatoes today and we'll take some of those to SS & DILs tomorrow, along with some of the blueberries.

It was sunny for most of the day here and the showers started here just over an hour ago.

All finishedBig Smile, I now have a clean, fresh looking de cluttered kitchen and a paint free Moo, don't ask me how because she had her nose into everything while I was painting. We had torrential rain during the night here but apart from a small shower this morning it has been lovely and sunny all day. I wouldn't want to give any caulis away either Susiq, much better to freeze them and enjoy them later after all your hard work getting them to grow. I am glad your Dahlias are ok, trust me they will be stunning when they flower. SS and DIL will enjoy the pots an blueberries tomorrow SueYesSmile. Thanks sue and Susiq for explaining what a humanist service is, it sounds lovely. I am doing lamb chops for dinner tonight, then I am putting my PJ's on and not moving off that sofaWink, think I've more than earned it today. Now, about decorating the dining room........Wink

Well done lillyrose and well done to Moo too for not getting covered, I don't blame you for settling down for the rest of the evening either.  I'm about to do that with a pot of Hagen Daas ice cream (on offer in SainsburySmile) and I'm not sharing it, I've got the pralines and cream, OH has the strawberry cheesecake one and my son has the cookies and cream.

Yes please lillyrose, pics of the decorating pleaseSmile

We had a lovely day out, SS and DIL were really pleased with the knitted items and they are now hanging up in the little one's wardrobe along with the other ones I'd done plus some other bits that they've picked up.  There was a gorgeous little white snow suit hanging up which had a rabbit face on the feet and ears on the ankles of it, it was so cute.

Morning all, it's nice and sunny here with a gentle breeze after a wet night, the water butt is full againSmile

It's good to hear your veg did well while you were away anthonyD, all the rain we've had recently has done them a world of good.

I'm going to have a gentle potter about today, what's everyone else up to?
