(I've been slacking but will get some in soon) I wasn't going to have pancakes, but after reading about yours, I think I'll make myself some. I'll have to use a bought lemon though. Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

  Reply | Contact  Morning all, there was no frost last night so it's quite a bit warmer here first thing compared to the last couple of days, although there is rain in the forecast. It's now official, I'm going to be a grandma DIL had her first scan yesterday, all is well and the new arrival is expected at the end of September Have a good day everyone. edit: sorry, meant to say - the sarnis are chicken and mayo today, my mind is playing tricks on me today sue1002

  Reply | Contact Morning all. Congratulations Sue. Be warned though, being a grandma makes you do very silly things( well it does in my case). My Son has just phoned me for a chat and I was talking to Aidan down the phone, the fact that he is only 3 months old didn't even enter my head. It is lovely though. There was no frost here this morning either and the sun keeps trying to come through so fingers crossed it is another nice day. Hope you don't have too busy a day today Sue, save me a sarnie please then I don't need to stop . Hope everyone has a good day x

  Reply | Contact Morning all and of course official congratulations to the grandma to be! Have you started present shopping for the new arrival yet? No sun here today either, bit gloomy and we just had a bit of rain. I'm hoping for some more, preferably very local, rain over my newly planted fruit shrubs (the water is still turned off at the lotty). Gosh you have been busy Sis, well done you! I'd love to see some pics of how the garden looks now, it must be immaculate with all the clearing and weeding you've done. I've not started any seeds of yet either Phot's. But I'm finding it very difficult to remain patient, it's still too early, maybe in 2 weeks time.. Good luck on your exam today AT, nice to see you again! Where's Richard? Has his mobile gotten lost under the duvet perhaps?

  Reply | Contact  Good morning all, haha here I am  Eva not replying from bed today, I am back to my usual time ...lol. It is sunny here today but quite cold in fact. I had a little flood in the downstairs bathroom this morning I turned the tap on and the top came off in my hand. It was lucky that it was near the stopcock so I could turn it off quickly I am having a good day so far lillyrose thanks,I am having a bit of peace as Cheryl has gone to the dentist, so I won't be worrying her about the tap..the least said the better on occasions....... Good luck with your exams AT I am sure you will be fine. We had pancakes yesterday too Sue, Phot's, with lemon and a little caster sugar on them. Nicola had Nutella on hers but no one else fancied that.Congratulations grandma Sue. I was reading yesterday that the youngest grandma in the world is 23 she had her daughter when she was 12 and the daughter had a child when she was 11, I think it was in Romania if I remember it rightly. Enjoy your time in the garden, and plant hunting Miranda. I may venture out in our garden in a while, there is plenty to do out there. -Richard

  Reply | Contact Thanks everyone  I haven't started knitting yet Miranda, it must be about 12-13 years since I last hand knitted anything and took up doing cross stitch instead.  I'll have to see if I've still got any patterns about but I think they went when I got rid of my old knitting machine a few years ago. Nice one lillyrose, although I was doing silly things long before I found out  Hope it stays dry for you to be able to get into your garden today as it's just started bucketing down here. I'll send the rain over to you Eva so it can help water in your new fruit bushes  No, I haven't started shopping for the little one yet but once it gets nearer the time, I expect I will find bits and pieces here and there to pick up  We are going over on Sunday and will make the offer to buy the pram for them It's a good thing you are handy around the house Richard, bet you will have that tap fixed before Cheryl gets back from the dentist  So the world's youngest grandma is 23 eh? she's only half my age and I didn't have my son until I was in my early 30's. Right, best get back to work... sue1002

  Reply | Contact Congratulations, Sue! Gardening grannies are the best in the world (all my granparents were keen gardeners and amazing people)You'll be a wonderful granny, I'm sure. Don't worry about doing silly things (neither should any other grandparents worry about that) Grannies are allowed to be silly sometimes - in fact, it's to be encouraged. I did manage to do some gardening. I mowed the lawn, then went down the lottie. Tried to only look at a small section, because I haven't been there for aaaaaages and knew there would be lots to do. Did notice I've got some salad leaves I can pick - even a few spinach plants have survived! I did some digging. Just a bit because I don't want to do my back in - made the mistake of doing too much too soon before and learnt my lesson.  Next door lottie has gone all posh - raised beds, fruit cages etc. Very smart! I'm jealous. Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

The way the weather has been round here makes me glad I decided not to start seeds for another week or so, as it's been freezing the last few nights.  Maybe next week - touch wood, they always seem to catch up in the end. sue, do you put the Xmas spuds in the veg compartment or in the main fridge? Hope you did OK with the exam, AT - let us know what happened. asj - War on slugs and snails!

  Reply | Contact  Well done Phot's for getting all that done.  I don't blame you for not wanting to do too much digging and best to take it bit by bit to begin with  I usually have trouble with my back after doing the first proper weeding of the year after being not that active over the winter and found that the massage cushion OH got me for Christmas came in really useful.  It's got different massage points on it and it's also got a section at the back that heats up and it's just in the right place for my back I usually wrap the Xmas spuds in newspaper and put them at the back of one of the shelves in the fridge asj.  We've had a couple of freezing nights and it looks like we could be getting some more next week as there's some of the white stuff in the forecast... sue1002

I am going out for lunch with the old boys who have retired from where I used to work, we meet up once every 2 months. I went for my first one with them in January and had a good laugh, so am going again. Hope you are on the mend now asj, its good to see you back a bit more often now that you are feeling better.   Reply | Contact Morning all, Hope everyone is well, or as well as they can be. Thanks for all the exam good wishes.  It was looking like it would be a close thing as I just couldn't get my mojo up for revision, but all came good after an intense day of study yesterday - luckily the syllabus isnt too big, so I just about managed to read everything in the one day - and passed!  It means I will be able to use more power now on our radio, which will hopefully mean we can be heard further afield. Congrats to Sue on your news We're looking to go to our lottie this weekend.  We went a couple of weekends ago and OH did most of the turning over.  I wasn't very well and had to give up after trying to dig out only about a 6 foot length along the edges where the grass is trying to creep into the bed.  I hope I'll feel more up to it this weekend - would be nice to have it spit-spot. We have the best/worst allotment neighbour for that.  He's obviously retired and pops down every day so his lottie is always immaculate - I'm very envious! Well, I have a thesis meeting this afternoon - for some revisions to my MSc thesis, I just haven't been able to face them any sooner - I disliked the darned thing enough the first time, having to do parts of it again is just prolonging the agony! Its a bit grey here, I think rain is forecast and it sounds very windy - brr! All my seedlings are on windowsills, and those that are coming on will be moved to different sills over the weekend while we plant some more things in the sunniest window. Have a lovely day all
