Thanks Dave, I've been doing it the first way you mentioned so I think it could be that I might not be pulling it quite tight enough to smooth out the wrinkles.

This is the conifer in my neighbours garden. The road has been salted but as it has got colder the road has iced over. I have decided not to go anywhere until the snow thaws a little.

    Keep safe and warm everyone.

Nice pic Valerie that would make a nice Christmas card too.Yes

The wind is icy cold lillyrose isn't Brrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!

Do you leave your car somewhere private Sue or leave  it on the road. We have a drive and used to throw an old carpet over the car that would do the trick. We also had an old sheepskin rug we used to put over the engine and shut the bonnet, that was good too. The only thing was that Cheryl drove to work with it still in there onceSurprise..lucky it didn't get caught in the fan belt. We used to leave a message on cardboard inside the car to remind her after that. We are lucky now the frost has usually gone now when we want to use the car, since we are not working any more!Wink

Lovely pic Valerie, as Richard said it would make a nice christmas card. I have just been out in the garden with Maisie and nearly slipped over on the pathSurprise, all the melted snow from earlier has frozen over, so please all be careful, tonight and in the morning. Unless I have to go anywhere early I always wait till the frost has melted too Richard, the joys of not working ehWink. Doing steak for dinner tonight so had better go and put the griddle on, I am hoping I don't wake up so early in the morning, mind you it was my fault for going out in the snow and waking myself up too much to go back to sleep. Hope you enjoy your crab Susiq. Stay safe and warm everyone and sleep wellSleep x

My car is parked on the driveway Richard.  I've just been looking at Lidl's website and see that on Thursday, they have some car covers on sale and am thinking that might do a better job as I won't be needing to defrost or scrape any windows after thatSmile  I might just have to leave for work that day extra early to make sure of getting oneBig Smile

Go easy outside lillyrose, you don't want to be doing your knee a mischief againWink

Shiver me timbers it's cold today! Thanks for the tip on the car covers Sue, I just checked and we have the same offer on Thursday at Lidl. I'm going to get one for Lilian, she was complaining this morning that it took her 15 minutes to scrape the car windows. Mine is safely tucked away under one of those carports round the back. It is dangerous though, 'they' don't grit or salt the parking deck, let alone the slope you have to go down. The bottom of that slope joins up with the exit from the shopping mall and I'm nervous about hitting someone if I can't stop the car from sliding. I cleared the walkway to the parking deck from my door last night, but will have to get some grit or salt for the worst bits..

Lovely pic Valerie! Quite right to stay indoors till things thaw out a bit, but with this cold I'm not sure that will work.

What's the forecast for the UK? It's supposed to get warmer here starting Sunday, back to above zero at least! I certainly hope you get some warmer weather Susiq, you must be SOOO fed up with it by now!  That poor fish guy, having to go out in this cold (ask him to bring you some ciggies next time Wink).

Catch you later, stay safe and warm everyone! x

Hi everyone - hope you're all surviving the cold.  Susiq, please check in so we know you haven't turned into icebergs up there in the frozen north....Surprise.

Nice snowy pics, Val - glad to hear you are staying safe indoors.  Perhaps you should be more careful, lillyrose - wasn't it you who landed on your bum a while back? Huh?  Hope you enjoyed your steak Stick out tongue.

sue1002, sarnie report please!  I'm going to put the steak and kidney on to cook slowly this pm so that I can have a pie tomorrow - will probably do the diced lamb after that.  Don't know if I said that I got an extra delivery in case we get more snow and Ocado don't make it tomorrow....

Eva - you'd better fit your car with a siren, in case it slides down the parking slope Big Smile.

Richard - speaking of hot water bottles, yesterday I finally got sensible and changed the bedding from the summer lightweight duvette to the autumn duvet - amazing how well I slept last night instead of shivering Embarrassed.

    Back later.

I can see you will be nice and cosy inside your winter duvet asj..you will not want to get out of there until next March at the earliest .Wink

Thanks for the year planner link Dave we can start planning our growing  year now for the garden Yes

We have just been making some marmalade from the Marmade  tin we have made some before it is quite easy to make and tastes nice too.Wink. All you have to do is  boil the tin contents with sugar for 15mins, test it and put it in sterilised jars!..job done!..Big SmileStick out tongue. The tin cost £1.20 or something like that, plus 1.8kg (4lb) sugar and it makes 6lb of marmalade!

Where is everybody today?   There's only you, dave and me!!

PS - can't use the planner, unfortunately, as I don't have Word!

Hi everyone. I decided to do my Sainsbury shop today, needed another sack of puppy food for Maisie and a couple of other bits so thought I might as well do a weeks shop in case the snow gets worse down here. We have had flurries all morning and yesterdays has frozen over so the roads are very slippy, a couple of times I felt the car slideSurprise. I will read the posts shortly, need to thaw out first

    Hello Everyone,

We had more snow last night and it is more than a foot deep in the back garden. I've just had a phone call from a nursery to say that three trees I had ordered wil be delivered in the next few days. I'm afraid that I laughed as there is no way that I can deal with them until the snow thaws. The very nice lady said to open the package so that the plants can breathe and to keep them somewhere cool. She also said to put them into soil as soon as possible. My bags of compost are frozen somewhere at the wilder end of the garden. Advice anyone.
