Plant suggestions please

I have a free draining, dryish border and am looking for a compact plant, pref evergreen that grows in small mounds, around a foot high. I have in mind something like a box (but I dont want a box). The bed is currently planted up with grasses and lavender and I wanted something small and round to contrast. Many thanks Marie
