    Hi.

I have just recently put in two raised beds for vegetables.

So far I have planted spinich, kale, spring cabbage, oriental salad and peas.  I hope to sow my broad beans next month Smile

It is all looking great and I am very pleased with my first time effort.

However I have a question about my peas.  I have 6 feltham first all doing very well but some have started to flower already - Is this normal??

Any other advice about my new patch would be greatly recieved.

    Thank you in advance.

    Claire

Likley your Feltham First will not crop before the frost takes  them as larger flowering plants are not winter hardy, but sow some more next week and they should survive the winter in Bournemouth, and crop next year, as small plants are winter hardy.  I would sow your bean this month rather than next, but there is not much in it.

Your other stuff should be OK.

    Thanks.

I brought the peas as plugs from a garden centre as they recommended them for autumn/winter planting!  They are still only about 10-15cm high - will they still die? Sad

I think they will probably die, but you have nothing to lose by keeping them and seeing what happens - a mild November, who knows.

I marvel at garden centres that can so mislead their customers...
