I would suggest looking through the websites of several course providers and try to make a short list of,say 3 or 4, of the ones that impress you most. Then email them and ask them the questions you have posted here about practicals etc.

You can then judge each centre by their responses e.g speed of reply, manner of the reply, additional information offered etc. Almost a case of you interviewing them by email to judge which is the best candidate for you to invest your hard earned money in.

Give it a go - it might just work!

Pershore College are doing an external student course - just started, via email etc. You also get online/phone tutorials each week, covering the theory modules.  They are holding an intensive weekend course (residential) for the Practical - this course of study sounds such a good idea as so few colleges are doing the Advanced - let alone the Diploma, which Pershore are also doing.

Sometimes the hardest part is finding out about these courses as they don't seem very keen on advertising!

    Hope this helps

kandeakay, that is interesting information, did't know about Pershore distance learning. Thx.

I know that HCC offers the full range of RHS prep courses up to the master.

    regards, r.w.

I just finished the level 3 study course with the HCC and am now applying to do the exams here in the US.  the work books were extremely helpful but sometimes a little repetitive or vague but on the whole, very good.  My tudor was also very informative and was delighted to help me with any questions I had.  The course runs 18 months and is not too overwhelming if you keep yourself on a schedule. There is so much information that is to be learned in the books alone and quite a bit of side research.  I ended up getting quite a few of the books that they mentioned on their suggested reading which were an immense help but made for a lot of extra work.

There's a form called the "Examination Registration Form for Exceptional Supervision Canadates" that can be sent to the RHS to apply to take the exams (This only works for the written exam) in a location other then what they have listed.  Or, it might be easier to find a college near you that holds the exams.  I have yet to find out where the practical exams are held in the UK.

I hope this helps somewhat... I greatly enjoyed studying level 3 and can't wait for the exams to be over with..

    good luck :)
