Hello All,
Can anyone help me, I have been looking for a blue spruce seeding, I have found a few but they don't sell them until later in the year or they are located outside the uk. Does anyone have a seedlings or young plants they would like to get rid of?
Many thanks for reading

Most nurseries, as you've probably discovered, only sell one year old or older containerised or potted plants. That's how they make their money I guess. If you fancy raising one yourself, you may find seed companies online which supply hardy tree seeds. Alternatively pick a cone from a blue spruce in your local park or arboretum (with permission), but be careful as they leek sticky resin. Bring it indoors, put it in a warm place (like an airing cupboard) and wait for it to dry out. Once it's dried the cone will unfurl, then all you have to do is shake the seeds out. They will now require a winter chilling, this breaks seed dormancy allowing them to germinate. You can either put them in the freezer for a few days before you sow them, or put your seed tray in a cold frame or sheltered spot outdoors over winter. By the late spring/early summer with any luck you'll have some baby bluies! Good luck.
