    This tree has grown quickly, and has berries that turn red. 5 Points.

    It's a bit difficult to see without a close-up of the leaves and berries, but it looks like a hawthorn - Crataegus monogyna. There's pictures of leaves, berries, flowers here: http://www.gardenplansireland.com/forum/about810.html solstice

    Thanks, it does look like a hawthorn.
    It would have to be a thornless variety.

    I'll look at the berries this weekend, as they're ripe now.
    In my picture the berries hadn't developed the black "hole" like in your link, but maybe that happens as they ripen.

    Now I can see a bit more clearly, we can say that it's probably Sorbus intermedia. The berries are a different shape from hawthorn and the underside of the leaves looks white in your photo - another clue!

     I think it's a sorbus too, but I'm not sure which one.

    Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.
