Any ideas what this is called? 
Its about 8ft tall, the leaves are alternate on the twigs, oval ish and toothed. It has white flowers in may/june anda second flush of flwers that are pink injuly/august the flwers are pointed 5 petals. Ive tried to identify it with no luck :( Everyone hates it but the bee'slove it so I refuse to cut it down :)

Escallonia, probably "Apple Blossom". It responds fairly well to pruning, so you might be able to tidy it up if others don't like it. Cut out up to a third of the older wood back fairly hard, then do it again in a year's time, etc. Alternatively, what about growing something else through it to give a bit more colour? You could grow a Clematis vitticella, which is fairly vigorous (but not rampant like C montana. There are a number of varieties in shades of white, pink and purple. "Polish Spirit is a particularly good purple". Plant the clematis outside the fall of this shrub and train it towards it, so that the roots are not competing. Enjoy! Big Susan

Thank you, I had already pruned one one them back by about a third to see if it could take it before I tackled the others! Poor plants looks like they have never been pruned before so hopefully it will thrive now it has a new owner.
