Hi There
I have a dwarf agapanthus which simply refuses to flower. It's been in three years now and to be honest I a bit sick of waiting for it. I had to move it this year and I was really hopeful because the roots were huge. Should I wait another year or just discard it. Someone did tell me it might do better in a pot .....What do you think?

i've heard that agapanthus like to have their roots constrained for flowering. we had one in the garden which didn't flower so we dug it up and put it in a pot and it flowers now

Something that the reference page that Miranda gave didn't make clear was whether the flower buds are initiated in the same year that they flower, or the previous year? I don't know, but a lot of plants are affected by the previous year's growing condititions, so you may find that TLC takes a year to produce results. Big Susan

Spot on! Linnea is correct. Once the roots are somewhat restricted I'm sure you will see a difference. Mind you, it may take more than one season to achieve it.
There is no such thing as useless - you can always be a bad example.

Thanks all. If I dig it up should I trim the roots or just cram them into the pot. It's amazing how many web sites don't give you the little peices of info that you need......not to mention frustrating;-)
