Hello Again
Well I think I am in trouble my tomatoes got stem rot, havent got a clue why, I have only read the abstract of a long essay about this desease but I was wondering if any of you have any good information to help me save my tomatoes plants, or If i just let them rest in peace, the tomatoes with the problem are planted next to my french beans which have been doing very well, can this desease affect the french beans?
Best wishes to all
Tamara

Hello Tammy
I am no expert but I have grown tomatoes in previous years and have had blossom end rot, and 'damping off'
I have done a quick search using 'google' and it seems that it is a bacterial infection.
if you look at this address it shows you some photographs which could be useful:-
http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/imagemap/mgmaps/tomstem/tomstem.html
this will give you a starting point sorry I can't help you any more but wish you well with your produce (- like you I am also growing french beans (dwarf) variety).
Cheers
Rich

Thanks
I am not very expert at all, but looking at the photos it looks like early blight , I have pulled out a lot of plants because I had the wrong diagnose, I still dont know whether it is early blight or not, but it looks like it is.
thanks again

If it's blight and not too advanced you might save the plants by spraying with dithane.
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

Hi Phot-Moll
It looks like early blight, after looking at 1000 photos, is that dithane good for organic gardens?
thanks a lot

No, it's not organic. I don't know of any organic cure for blight. There are varieties with some resistance so when you chose more seeds you might want to take that into account.
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.
