when i got my patio i wanted to attract the small birds by way of feeders and bird baths and tables. We all know the most familiar types of these.
Any one actually made any of these for both aesthetic, environmentally friendly, and natural way? is there any site to explain how to make your own from entirely natural material yet a novel look and unusal rather than trad.
love to hear a response on this.
I have a few ideas germinating alright, just wanted to work on my ideas with help of seeing similar.

I assembled a bird bath from 2 pieces of ceramic tubing (which I glazed in the colour of a nearby wall). between them I put a small thrifted mill stone (diameter about 30cm) and on top went a straightforwar stone bowl (granite), which I got at a local garden centre. Diameter about 35cm. Birds and insects love it. All together is assembled on top of a low dry stone wall, out of reach of cats.

thank you for your post, sorry for not replying soon, have been packing boxes, off to new home, WEENY and a TEENY concrete garden but look forward now to starting a garden proper for the first time ever.

I use bog standard things on my tree, but this past winter I put some seed on a terracotta saucer to bring the birds closer to my window. Worked really well for robins and other ground feeders, but the best of all was the goldfinches that came onto the verbena bonariensis. I am actively encouraging those to spread in my garden now and I purposefully do not dead~head them and most other plants as they are a good source of seed and look okay in the winter garden.
One is nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.
