My garden borders are full of bluebells (now finished).  I wish to put in some summer plants in their place without disturbing next years crop of bluebells.  When or should I lift the bluebells to do this?

You don't need to lift them Greenfingers, they can stay in the ground.  You can plant your summer plants next to them and by the time they are romping away, the bluebell leaves will have died down and can be removed.

In the hedgerows in Devon bluebells grow amongst grass, ferns, primroses and red campion ( I always liked the colour combination of the bluebells' purple blue with the bluish pink of the campion) and later come the foxgloves so would you be looking to have a natural planting look?  Geraniums would give coverage and colour into the summer.
