Hi, I've just taken over an allotment and there are rasberry canes growing in one corner. They about 2-3 feet high now. I don't know if they're summer or autumn fruiting, so I don't know if I should cut them all the way to the ground, leavin the new growth at ground level (which is going strong) or just trim the dead bits, as the canes have lots of new growth along the length as well. I know this also affects tying/support. For what it's worth, they seem to be happily standing upright without any support. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think if you are not sure you should look to see if the canes have any remains of fruit from last year and cut those ones. Also I think the old wood is a darker colour but I'm not sure.
